There are two female cats in my household, both spayed. The one's been here for longer, but because we'd failed to socialise the first cat we'd ever owned, inevitably tensions arose between him and the one cali-cow that'd arrived second. The brown tabby (she resembles a penguin in her gait so I call her Pingu even though that's not her name) joined the household a just few years ago and somehow she has the sharpest claws of ANY cat I've ever met.

We tried introducing the penguin to the cow and, sadly, they immediately took to hating each other. As things currently stand we have to keep them separate. Sadly both of them seem to like me a fair lot and so take turns being locked in my room while the other gets to roam the house free.

One day for whatever reason (likely because one of the other cats'd been haranguing her), the cow was in a particularly bad mood. I was clambering into bed when out of nowhere she flipped into attack position and swiped at my face. Surprising amount of blood trickled out, but glad it missed my eye. She hissed and slunk off, but after maybe half an hour approached me and started nuzzling me.

Cats are temperamental idiots. Still love them though. Hopefully this ends up being a cool scar.

Highly unimportant tangent: would be interesting to revisit old Golden Schlong winners (specifically amps and DACs IMO) and see how they fare with some of the new measurement techniques, the MHz bandwidth harmonic distortion profiles, the distortion patterns borne of 37Hz and 8200Hz stimuli, and of course distortion surface. Might shed some interesting light, draw more correlations between subjective stuff and measurements.

 

The transition in the media from "Biden is sharp like a tack, at the top of his cognitive abilities" to "The Seals Team 6 will be on its way to whack Rachel Maddow on the day of Trump inauguration" was so smooth that hardly anyone noticed.

 

I want to make fun of the circus down south of the border, but our circus up here ain't getting much better these days.

 

"Politically" is evidently a triggering word for some people. Would exchanging the thread title's "politically incorrect" for "occasionally iconoclastic" or "random counter-orthodoxy" better reflect its aim?

Happy to oblige! This year my wife and I had a rare opportunity to adopt a puppy greyhound. It's rare because greyhounds are bred for racing and usually don't become pets until they are already adults.

This was Xena at 3 months old (named after the TV series Xena Warrior Princess). I'll post more about her in the pet photos thread.

What happens is the refusal to order a clearly unconstitutional oath. I have every confidence in our LINE military obeying their oath to protect and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Our politically appointed military leaders, not so much (they’ve already proven they’re evil). You don’t know many military or ex-military guys, do you?

Just like what SHOULD be happening right now; the invocation of the 25th. I’m zero fan of Kamala Harris, but the fact is, the president MUST be mentally competent and “on”. Yet, that isn’t happening yet.

Man, I really hate the solar salesmen that come to my door with the classic salesman spiel where they want you to state reasons you don’t want to talk to them about solar so they can try and defeat your arguments. So sleazy. My brother has solar with backup battery and likes it a lot. I don’t want to get it for our current house because we don’t feel like we’ll be living in this house for a long time.

 

I can’t necessarily comment on the state of mechanical keyboards in general (except to say, “Damn, some of them are stupidly expensive”) but I have really enjoyed my Glorious Gaming GMMK full size. I’ll probably keep it forever and replace any switches as needed. Switches are hot swappable Gateron brown.

 

Speaking of this, in a span of two weeks I had five of these Solar folks knocking on my door and telling me about Solar. Zero interest since Florida can be very cloudy for most of the year on top of loooong return on investment.

 

If I see people who are obviously salesmen on my front door camera I simply don't answer. Not worth my time. Little sticker on the mailbox near the door says "no soliciting". Amazing so many people can't read.

 

How do you all feel about solar water heaters?

When we got one it was the first time I had a "hot" shower in several years...

Some early models have Beryl making US landfall somewhat close to Corpus Christi, no one knows if it will redevelop into a hurricane after Mexico landfall, but it may.
