Personal Loaner: Piety²

The Double Piety that I put together is currently on a private tour with a small group of audio friends and I would like to extend it to the community of friends here in the near future.

This loaner was made possible with help for @CEE TEE and improved by the very capable hands of @Azimuth . Though it is making some rounds now, it is not a solid, complete amp by any means. I am working on a new chassis, trying some wood options or some other potential directions so care should be taken by those participating.

Please note: The amp is balanced in, balance out only. Also, though marked, I reversed the left and right inputs and you need to be aware during setup. The switch on the front is the gain switch, up for high. The volume pot is not super solid, but it does what it is supposed to do.

Special Note: Please do not open case. It is just a couple of toroid transformers, two Piety boards, a 4-ganged Alps RK27 pot, and a bunch of boring wiring. More than anything, this was a fun project.

How does it sound? The two Piety's, with independant power supplies is a leap and a bound above the single Piety. The changes include more width and depth to the soundstage and more detail/clarity. It is a wholy postive upgrade that exceeded my expectations. Though I miss it, I also am glad to let others get some listening time on it. The Piety is a great little amp on its own, but with the full dual setup it becomes a much more mature and competent amp that keeps me engaged. I hope others will find this fun project fun as well.

note...originally the left and right channels were reversed at the xlr inputs. This has been fixed and now is set up for typicall plug positioning.

Just to keep things simple. Loaner impressions can just be shared on this thread.

Is it too late to be a tentative yes for this loaner? If not, shipping to Irvine, CA.

Tentative as I may not have time to listen during the specific time window, depending on when it makes it's way over.

 

Small update guys. The Piety had to come back to my house because of a dead channel. It will be arriving today and once the fix is completed I will initiate the start to the tour again. Sorry for all the delays.

The list is going to go in reverse order since we are starting on the west coast.

The piety has been repaired and strengthened and is on its way to NY today to @Ksaurav402

Everything is the same as before, just a bit stronger internals, and a better shipping box thanks to @CEE TEE

Sorry for all the delays, but glad to finally find the time to get the amp running again and out to the community.

 

I know it's not the same thing, but I'm personally really curious to see comparisons between this and the Pietus Maximus.
