Yeah, I dunno what happened then. Mysterious failure. Thanks for the clarification.

@Arun Kumar Did the same on his A1. Replaced the A1 boards with LIM but not the ROM. It made distorted sound. It did not brick the A1.

For me, I think the ribbon cable for the front panel must have messed with the regulators that are kind of in the way there and caused some voltage failure. That is my best guess - so be careful out there.

@RestoredSparda , damn that's not too encouraging. My Yggdrasil is OG (not +). Interesting theory about possibility of the MIB cards not working with the old chassis. I still find it hard to believe that I so easily "damaged" something during the swap attempt.
@Azimuth , your Yggdrasil is totally dead in the water then? No boards/chips make sound?

Correct @dirtyunderwear. Both the A1 and LIM cards will "lock" to the incoming signal, but no analog output whatsoever. That goes for the upgraded firmware chip and the original firmware chip. My guess is that something is wrong with the muting relay circuit. I bet if I measured output from the card, it would be there. But it is boxed up and I am sending it back to Schiit.

I would email Schiit @dirtyunderwear. They got back to me and finally stated the non-plus chassis needs a slightly different chip for the MIB cards as the firware is different on the front panel. They are sending that now to me.

there's a local classified with a guy selling a 179 which seems like a step up from the 117, but I'm having trouble seeing what all the extra money gets me?

@Armaegis Accuracy, speed, and TrueRMS. True RMS is more accurate voltage for AC voltages. As well as durability and longevity. My 117 is also smaller and lighter weight than my old 77.

I was talking to my uncle who was an electrician at a factory that made UL listed products (water pumps). And he had to send his meter every so often to get calibrated so when the UL inspectors showed up they asked to see his calibration sticker on his meter.

Don't ship UPS Shure Post. All UPS does is just hand it off to USPS. So get better shipping or just use USPS.

For UPS Shure Post, times I have gotten shipments with that option, its like I can guarantee whatever my package was, its going to take like an extra week to arrive. Feel like that option is, "Whenever your post office feels like delivery"

USPS has always been near flawless for me. For larger packages though, UPS is usually better, but Ground is slow AF, but not nearly as slow as FedEx Ground.

Goes slightly painful where I can get by on some ibuprofen and muscle relaxers, to the worse pain I've ever felt in my life and can't even get around. Had x-rays looked normal. Next step Friday MRI with orthopaedist. Hopefully nothing bad or long term.

"Subjective impressions are great, really. Without them, what's the point..." This only means I try not to listen to the gear rather listen to the music.

An audio enthusiast with a recording degree. I became an audiophile in college in studying recording to become a mastering engineer. Although I was an intern for Glenn Meadows and also was acquaintances with Ray Kennedy, the stars never quite aligned for me. However I never left pursuing high-end audio.

I grew up in a radio station as my dad was in radio. My first job was a board op at the talk station where I had to use analog reel to reels, carts, cassettes, and DAT's.

And yes, I like to tinker with gear. I am an audiophile on a budget. Working IT Instructional Designer only gets you so much income with two kids around. Have you seen how much day care costs these days? Anyways, there are I guess some gains to some gear that can be tweaked to improve the performance. This is no different than car types changing differentials or beefing up the suspension or engine. Some of us can't afford a BMW, but rather have to take a Civic and beef it up with aftermarket parts.

Tinkering also helps with repairing gear. I have restored some KEF C75 speakers, an Elac Miracord 50H. I have also fixed, soldered, suped up, many other things from crossovers, to cap replacement, to op-amp replacement, etc. I most recently fixed and rebuilt a non-working Dynalo. I took electronics and studio maintenance in college, but I am still learning.

I have also built: guitar tube amps, guitars, and drums. I love DIY.
