In some ways I'm disappointed at the show. Specifically at the handling of the death of Viserion and Rhaegal. The ideas were sort of right. But not the execution.

In some other ways I'm surprised at how good the show really is, and how well it spits first impressions (social psychology term) in the face of the audience.

Dany is a bad ruler, and a psychopath. She has been this way for most of the show. She is not a one dimensional character though. Nor is Cercei or Jamie.

Jon "Idiot" Targaryen is also not a a one dimensional character. But he is the prince that was promised as far as I can tell.

Who sits on the iron throne does not mater anymore much. There is no iron throne anymore. What remains is what will happen to the folks that are alive and remain in that world. Hope this episode finishes with a clue about that.

Didn't the last three-eyed raven live for hundreds of years before the Night King killed him? Is Bran just king forever now?

Also, definitely thought Tyrion was going to argue for the kingdoms to be broken up now that there wasn't an Iron Throne.

I found the ending satisfying enough. Some of the transitions were rough, and I wasn't too satisfied with how they handled the scenes after Jon killed Dany where everybody met, but I am satisfied with everybody's ending ultimately.
Bran has the most historical knowledge and foresight to be the best ruler of the kingdoms.
Drogon 'killing' the iron throne and blaming it for Dany's death was especially powerful. The entire scene from the moment Jon walks up to Drogon all the way through Drogon flying off with her was powerful.
Ghost got the love he deserved.
The whole Song of Ice and Fire book thing was lame, to me anyways. Too cute for its own good.

Serviceable episode, rough around the edges. Not shit.

There were some good parts. When John killed Danny... I knew he was going to do it, but then for a second I was convinced he wasn't actually going to do it, then boom, stab.

But the rest, idk. Ended way too neatly. I thought this was GOT, season 1 killed off Ned Stark who we all loved. I would have preferred a less happy ending, like breaking bad.

Is there even a Nights Watch anymore or was that "banishment ' purposefully giving Jon permission to sidestep being King and to go live with the Wildlings?

The directors cut the part where Bran stops time and gives Drogon, Grey-Worm, the Dothraki, and the Heads of Kingdoms some powerful peace-loving Children Of The Forrest (TM) weed. He is not Dr. Greenseer for nothing.

Strong shit man. The Dothraki were so fucked up that nobody knows of their whereabouts. Drogon is still w/o a compass from that grass.

I could have sworn that the Dothraki were all snuffed out during the fight with the wights? And also where did the few thousand pristine unsullied come from? Thought they lost most of their strength again at the Battle of Winterfell?

And coming soon to a screen near you - "Call Me NoOne: Arya Goes West"!

PS - Can someone explain the bit about Tyrion rearranging the chairs at the small council table? The comedy in that bit (the book, Bronn's role/paying for brothels first, etc.) was a little painful...

Kind of amazes me that Dan & Dave could get away with this. It's true that HBO offered them 10 seasons of 10 episodes, isn't it?

And these dudes single-handedly caused the show to founder by rushing it like mad and phoning in some nonsense, because they were eager to get onto Star Wars.

    They should be seriously embarrassed.

Bahaha, so Bran wasn't so useless after all.

Lame ending. From Jamie/cersei's death to Bran winning out, Jon's banishment, all of it.

    How oddly prophetic dude.

I didn't think it was that bad....at least there weren't any WTF moments. I imagine this is the closest to GRRM's intentions that we've seen for a while.

People gotta get on with it (i.e. life), Jon claiming to be the rightful ruler wouldn't have worked (who would've believed him after the murder) & he couldn't really have been forgiven. I'm quite sure Bran knew he'd skip town with Tormund & Company. It's a fitting plot point.

Tying up the loose ends is kinda necessary (Bron as master of coin? Okay. Brianne as leader of Kingsguard? Yeah.) Yes it probably could have been done better, but the ending made some sense to me at least. If anything it makes me look forward to the final books that much more.

They should have had an amnesiac Jon wake up on the rocky shore, to a clean up crew - the shore littered with bodies of the Unsullied and Dothraki... And then work backwards and forwards to how things got to this point from when Jon killed Dany.

At the end, Jon would have banished himself and headed north. He never wanted any of this shit anyway.
