Wow! Just skimmed through the first several posts and must say that I plan to spend some time going through the thread on the week-end. Really interesting stuff and clearly a lot of time and thought has been invested on your part.

Back on topic, had I not left HF to lurk around SBAF there is no chance I'd have stumbled upon your EXCELLENT thread while wading through all the BS. Go figure that it took a post on SBAF to direct me to a gem on HF.

Obviously, leather is more organic...

 

But if it's faux leather, you get the opposite effect.

 

Oh, that stuff is just horrible. Sometimes it is just cardboard under the cheap, thin layer of plastic. It gives hollow lows, hollow mids and hollow highs. Oh wait... maybe I could try turning the volume up!

He makes some good points in the OP. Jude's car analogy doesn't work though. The difference between a couple thousand dollar item like an Yggdrasil and the MSB is going to be pretty small. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a Schiit setup sounds better at less than 5% the cost of the MSB. However the difference between a $2000 and $144000 car is immediately apparent and performance drastically different.

Having been "reading the book" since the start, I like to keep up with it, even though I'd say that the best bit was the first year or two.
