Weird thing is I am smarter than my roommate, though with a much worse work ethic, but my sense of style is... well I just bought a 100% rabbit fur coat at goodwill, all my shirts are from goodwill, I own a white and silver jacket, a gold jacket, and many other odd things.

Because you should ask a woman. Several women, in fact. Listen to them without expecting some coherent female hive mind. Lead the conversation away from yourself to whatever it is they seem interested in with open ended questions. When they seem ready to stop, say thanks and mosey off on good terms, into the sunset.

That aside, just go with what Kunlun said. If secondhand information then it could be BS, or maybe even her hitting on you by knocking your confidence down a couple pegs first. Only one way to find out.
@Lyer25 it was second hand info, but pretty reliable. She really liked my roommate for a while, I don't really know. She kinda gets with a lot of guys though, so I'm not really trying to do that. Plus she is a freshman.
The moment you make the perfect joke that cracks her up and you look her straight in the eyes with a wink she will understand that you are the guy she wants. It can happen in the span of 2 seconds and snap. When she still wants the other guy, her loss...
You need to rock those sweet style Goodwill pimpin' clothes and ask her if she wants a job being your Ho. Theres nothing like a little shock value to get to the core of the matter. She sounds crazy and(or) confused.
