I still have a house but shingles and siding are mostly gone. Trees are mostly uprooted or snapped off. I’ve been busy with chainsaw.

Drove an hour yesterday to get gas, so I run generator a few hours a day so refrigerator is good. I have it good compared to others. I drive around in the jeep to charge my phone. Biggest thing is that almost every tree in town is down and on power lines. Rumor is that it could be 4 weeks to get semi normal

Was that the derecho? We had a tornado in Nashville that was pretty devastating and then a derecho a few weeks later. The 2nd event was worse than the first, which is really saying something.

Shit! my neighborhood got nailed by a derecho a few years back, so I feel your pain. Power was out for 7 days in June in northern VA, which is a f'ing swamp during June/July/Aug. Cheers to porch beers in the heat - you'll get through this.

My brother and his wife got power in Iowa City on Thursday. My sister in Ames didn't get power until yesterday. My parents were luckier, power came back Tuesday. I didn't even know about it until my buddy asked if I'd called my parents on Monday.

Yeah there’s been virtually nothing mentioned about it in the national news. The flood of 2008 was a big deal and made news. This is way worse.
