Another addendum: don't bother arguing with people who insist on washing beef with running water before cooking or that the red liquid therefrom is blood. It'll only stress you out.
Agreed, I just wanted to let people know that my aspirations were dashed by my alcohol-hating family. I ended up freewheeling it a bit and it's a pretty tart stew with a bit of a Filipino-Euro flavour profile. Happy with how it turned out even if I still want to redo.
It's tempting but the kitchen was packed lmao. Just letting the non-burgundied beef stew... stew pending serving. Getting some work done in the meantime, probably not helping mood.
I don't drink. I didn't make a thing of giving up, just realised that I hadn't for a while and it might as well stay that way. ok, so I do have thoughts about how much harm alcohol does, and it wouldn't have been my choice of drug to be legal.
But cooking is cooking. And the alcohol is going to get driven off anyway.
