As with all things Ruzzia - 50% chance of total randomness. The rest of 50 % I'd split half between 'falling from penthouse window' treatment and propaganda circus for domestic Ruzzians.
Didn't you hear, he will have an unfortunate accident. Fell down a flight of stairs into half a dozen knives. And then spontaneously combusted. Truly unfortunate.
Likely head to the West, air all the dirty laundry for asylum and unfreezing of London accounts, write a best-selling book, and finally get to be interviewed by Oprah.
I'm surprised he's still alive. News I read has it that Putin was dissuaded from immediate action.
Given that he has survived so far, retribution may not strike for years. He'll be on the list. And those who never forget will be happy to leave it until everybody else has.
That it was a false flag to fool the west (Putin feigns defeat to encourage less UKR aid and out actual MoD unreliables) is the only narrative I've heard that makes sense. That Putin just let Wagner off the hook and Prighozin is not dead adds to the evidence.
I don't think he feigned defeat, but then, he wasn't defeated. Embarrassment, he didn't have to feign; it's real.
But I don't entirely buy the idea that Prighozin wasn't stopped by Russian soldiers due to sympathy. It might be because they hadn't been explicitly told to. Or... it might be that they had been told not to?
I don't think anyone, especially Prigozhin himself, thinks he is safe in Belarus. I'd have expected him to be somewhere else by now, though he is persona non grata in much of the west so his options are probably limited.
It's a high-drama way of taking someone out. With all the resources at Putin's fingertips, why would he not be a little more subtle? A little less obvious?
Well, I suppose it makes a statement. To the entire world.
Prigozhin embarrassed Putin on a global stage and undermined his power. It took two months but Putin showed the world who is still in charge. Wagner is bringing in Russia money from Africa along with influence and effectively the top three members were offed. Could be possible it may have been staged but I would say its probably doubtful.
Well, regardless if he is a burnt corpse or chilling in some tropical island now, he is out of the picture. Man was committing war crimes, stoking civil wars, and a terrible human being. Good riddance.
Some people make the world a better place by being part of it. Some people make the world a better place by no longer being part of it. Prigo is certainly in the latter category. So is Putin but I guess we have to wait.
