1. Went to pick up some take out pizza not far from my apartment, cut him off... he was just sitting there so I went into the next lane then cut in front of him, he honked and I ignored him. Then noticed he followed me to the shopping plaza where the pizza place was, though it was only up the block so he could've been going to the same plaza. But he waited for me to leave and followed me.
2. I made sure not to lead him back to my place but led him on a wild goose chase for about 10 minutes until I could jump in front of another car at a yield/turn, and floored it... basically drove like a Hollywood stunt man, swerving through cars until I was sure I lost him. Had my pulse up for sure. It's Texas so who knows if he may have been armed or not.
Oh man. So glad you’re okay. There was a road rage shooting that happened in front of my work while I was on the first floor last week and the incident spilled in to our lobby. So many road rage shootings in Seattle these days.
I was also cut off in front of my work in May and the passenger got out of the car and totaled my car with a golf club. I had 500 miles on a new set of tires, too.
Sorry to hear that @Vansen. I suspect my situation was the guy was just trying to intimidate me... God knows how powerless he probably feels in his normal life to do something so petty and childish.
Has happened with me once and I was scared. I drove around and went to Costco and stayed there for few hrs. Finally I guess he lost patience and went away. Thankfully he didn’t damage my car.
I've had this happen to me a couple times about 10-15 years ago. Just drive to the nearest police station. Or a friend's house who has lots of weapons.
@HotRatSalad I actually didn't have my phone with me since it was a quick trip and I honestly don't know how to get to the nearest station. Plus my pizza was getting cold and I was hungry, lol.
^ Not to make a joke or lecture out of what happened, but yes, it typically doesn't hurt to know where a few local police stations are without GPS, map, etc in frequently visited areas..... regardless of how anyone may individually feel about the current state of policing as a whole, how much of your own safety or self defense falls on yourself vs someone else, etc.
Had an incident not too long ago where a very large and obvious truck pulled into the bank parking lot, saw me get back in my car after using ATM, followed me even after I immediately started driving around in figurative circles, decided to drive along busiest route to PD, half way there the guy just stopped following.
Would be afraid to cut anyone off in TX. I think in NJ we expect it and just sit on our horns and exchange middle fingers and go about our way. Saw this on Netflix that is illustrates the road rage insanit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbFH9_bWRMo
What an awful story - sorry that happened to you. @Slade01 . Toronto is the same - horns, middle fingers it's just part of living here. Whoh. That movie looks like a psycho road rage version of Falling Down.
One time this happened to my aunt when she was driving my grandma's car. The lady followed her a little and wrote down her plates — she had a friend in the DMV who told her whose car it was and their address. She'd drive outside the house just tweaking thinking of ways she could hurt my grandma, but never did anything.
My aunt and her met at the hospital their mom's were at the last stages of life, and she told my aunt everything thing that happened because she was on a recovery program trying to make ammends, and they are even kind of friends now. I don't cut people off here ever because of that. (i'm in Texas)
You can always call 911 and they will also tell you to go to the nearest police station and they will guide you there from wherever you are. Stay safe.
