Hey all. Michael encouraged me to post this here. looking for some help.

I thought i had a handle on how to use this thing but I am hitting a roadblock. I can get it set up on my network when direct connected to the router. But its not showing up via wireless oncei remove it from the wired network so i think i am missing something.

I don’t have Ethernet near my listening setup, so i set up the wifi then moved it to my amp and it never shows as a device anymore.

I am using a mac for the pc. The Mercury shows up as running ropieee.

I am not really sure what to do. I’m thinking i might get a ethernet extension for this trial but there should be an easier way.

I'm not sure I'm going to be much help since I ran the loaner wired... but I was somewhat surprised that the M3 didn't have an external antennae like the M2 did. I assume that means that the M3 is relying on the on-board Rpi wifi that is inside a metal case. ---edit--- metal case with acrylic front---edit---

I'm going to assume that you enabled wireless in ropiee, entered the wireless settings and rebooted before disconnecting the wire. After the reboot, try connecting to the ropiee interface and then disconnect the wire. See if it connects to the wifi before taking it over to the amp (and use something like fing to see if it shows up on the network... should be with a different IP address than when it was wired...)
    ----edit----
    edited to eliminate misinformation

With Volumio, I've found quite often that on initial setup my PC doesn't see the device's wifi hotspot but my phone does. Connect your phone to your wifi network, and if the Merc's hotspot shows up, complete the wireless setup using that.

Mercury V3 is not all metal. There is an acrylic front plate that allows the WiFi signals to work quite well.

    Good news everyone.
I was hesitant to do the update that ropieee was prompting, but decided what’s the worst that could happen.

@Michael Kelly there was one side effect…the power light is no longer on and the green light is very dim.

After the update the Mercury now shows up as a wifi/airplay device and is streaming like I imagined it would.

It’s playing from either phone or mac mini. Streaming (qobuz > bnc> gungnir ds > diy aegis > RD-x) and it sounds great.

Will get into listening later tonight.

you need to add the config.txt changes. They are listed in the hardware reference manual.

Please remove me from the list, some life changes have me keeping my focus elsewhere for a while.
