One streamer updated cleanly, a second very much did not. Not sure why but at least starting from scratch isn't hard.
Roon Certification announcement https://community.roonlabs.com/t/uncertified-roon-ready-devices-announcement/120298
I think it's a step in right direction as any playback issue creates a support ticket for Roon tech team so its high time manufacturer gets hardware certified before selling it as Roon Ready.
Having just recently gotten Roon to use with my minidsp shd hearing the news about this sucked. It is uncertified but the devs responded to a thread on their forums that work is well under way for final certification.
Been looking for a pair of Grado 225/RS2s since the loaner but the enablers on here made me order a set of Hemps..
Just be aware that Hemp loses Grado tone a lot -- you need to like something smoother and darker than hd600. Not very sure if it can still sing for rocks and metals as much as grado fans expect.
I've read the Hemp thread multiple times and while the FR plot doesn't say everything, it looks good to me. I'm looking forward to these. With the reviews on the 3F, I'm guessing they will pair well with the T4.
I think so. As usual, if this direction is your ally, these headphones are fantastically capable. I dare to think it's kinda Poor guys' Raal SR1a as they shares a lot of benefits in common. Will elaborate and post my impression sooner or later.
Mike Shinoda Dropped Frames Vol 1. That’s a lot of bass. And listening on the Clears, it is so choice...
When Mike Shinoda get serious about music there must be something special about it. He is quite a humble musician but the sound he crafted with Linkin Park, those first albums, damn that was next level.
@JeremiahS I still have both. Comparison: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/ecp-audio-t4-headphone-amplifier.6720/page-9#post-285120
Thanks for the answer. I want to try a tube amp but these two brands don't exist in my area so I can only rely on other impressions.
Getting ready to finish getting Roon setup and building my pi2aes...was just wondering what hookup I should use for my Gungnir. Guess I need to snag a BNC cable! thanks for sharing.
I have a gungnir on the way and I’m looking forward to trying the BNC input. DigiOne RCA is already very good
Glad this is an option for that rare YMO "family" ;) Qobuz is painfully Dad-Fi tho... and I know I couldn't convince any of my family to use it vs Spotify, which sounds gud-enuff and more importantly is cornering the market in audio content.
This is cool if you can convince your family to join in. My mom is still surprised I pay for music at all. My dad has only listened to the same 10 CD's for as long as I can remember. My brother is a free Spotify Philistine.
Why is more often than not, cheaper to buy a physical CD & have it shipped vs purchasing a digital download.
don't forget https://us.7digital.com/ usually 16/44 is standard CD price (though not discounted), and when > 16/44 is available it's always cheaper than the usual "Hi Res" outlets...
The album I was looking at was 11.49 via Qobuz, 11.99 7digital and 17.99+ hi-res. But only 6.49 for CD via Amazon. It’s messed up
Yes, it's an inversion but such things are common in market transitions, and in this case the long slow death of the physical media market.
If you are using the Tidal app, be sure to uncheck "Loudness Normalization." It completely kills sound quality.
I usually do not pay attention to its settings. Casual listener here. Please explain. Does this Tidal setting make music less dynamic like the squashed Audioslave disasters?
Discovered the setting while trying to figure out why Tidal via Roon sound much better than the Tidal app on the same computer. The setting seems to compress and decrease the dynamic range. It's quieter but even raising the volume to try and match it still sounded bad even to the point of being harsh.
ProStudioMasters has a section titled "UP TO 30% OFF SELECT ALBUMS BY SLAYER AND HANK MOBLEY!"... seems like an odd combo
the economic impacts of this whole mess are just getting started... https://images.app.goo.gl/coew9oz3v2oSEmTM8
Thanks to those that recommended Custom Cans cables, received my sets yesterday and they are fantastic!
agree... I picked up a loong cable for my ZMF's at a price lower than I typically pay for half the length. Awesome cable (someday I'll try building my own... but not now)
I used to think Eric Johnson (https://bit.ly/316EvCT) was crazy to prefer a brand of 9V in his guitar pedals…now I get totally get it
Trying it out. Not an insignificant upgrade from their standard service (I think it's 256kbps AAC?). I don't think it's quite as good as my CD rips, but not bad.
@rlow I think Qobuz fucked up their pricing. $20.00 a month for 16/44. That puts tidal and Amazon as better value propositions at the same price or lower.
