You hold the now playing screen for 3 seconds and it takes you back to the "home" - that is how I understand the instructions. The album art or lack of album art has never been any sort of issue for me.

My only wish has been brought up already - hold track forward / back to scroll forwards and backwards in the song.

You can press and hold on any screen for three seconds to go back to home, but a single tap on the now playing screen brings up and hides the on screen playback controls.

    Exactly Merrick, that one

Getting the SHANLING screen instead of UI is annoying and slows you down needlessly- it should probably be optional.

Worse yet, occasionally I can't make it go away at all without pressing the crown to turn the screen off and back on again. Sounds minor, but it's annoying when you're using it on the go, and everything just takes longer than it needs to.

The other annoying aspect is that most of this stuff is intermittent. I am a bit a salty about the fact that I can't provide proper steps to reproduce the issue above reliably.

I know we all want to like this little player due to all its good points and price, but maybe that's all the more reason to mention this stuff while it's new and still being developed :)

(Edit: Was gibberish because the edit widget wasn't behaving on my phone- that was before I opened the wine, stop laughing)

I haven’t had the issue where the Shanling/artwork screen wouldn’t go away when tapped that I can recall.

Hmm, you keep referencing to Shanling screen, I just want to say for others, it's just normal cover art screen. If person has correctly attached covert to all his files, he will never see screen with Shanling logo.

I will just post here few points, please check them out to see, if your unit/system is acting correctly.

    1) When your screen is turned off and you press wheel, it will light up and immediately shows the playback controls(which disappear after 10 seconds). You can swipe right twice to go to now playing folder/album.
    2) Just click on cover art/shanling logo to bring up playback control.
    3) Swipe right on cover art/shanling logo to go back to now playing folder/album.

All three working fine for you?

Addition from mods: this is definitely a shill

This is my 1st post. I joined because I am so enthusiastic about the M0. I actually use it at home, Bluetoothing it into an Auris bluMe receiver plugged into the old RCA CD inputs of two different high performance systems. The sound is unbelievable. I replaced a wired Pioneer XDP-100R with the M0 and the Auris, and a Cowon Plenue D as well. I have many players that I almost exclusively use at home with either an old HK (one of the last amps mfg in USA) or a Yamaha 2 channel 100w, both systems use late 1990 JBL speakers.

I expected little kinks in the firmware and so far, there are only 2, the little favorites heart doesn't always turn red, and maybe I just have to learn to search for individual artists better because the search sometimes flies on me. I will not update the firmware because I like everything else about the player and knowing me, I'll mess something else up. My players have version 1.5. I have been using the M0 a lot for two weeks. I am fascinated with the sound with the Bluetooth connection. I keep the EQ on Rock and the Bluetooth on aptX. This is the only player where Rock actually means Rock. It's perfect for me. The filters won't work on Bluetooth, but the EQ does.

I am more satisfied with the sound of this player than almost any of my players. In the locations where I use the M0, nothing sounds better. I have two players going, with 400gb cards filled with 257of my FLAC files.

I am writing this to commend the Shanling Corporation for this product. It, to me, is truly amazing. I am fascinated with many of the aspects of the M0. The little, subtle things like how the grooves are angled and rounded on the tiny wheel so it is usable, the round corners, feel of quality, the tiny player is a joy to operate and listen to. Even the tiny leather case works so well. It adds a little "bulK" and hugs the rim of the screen. You need to add an arm band or a wrist band.

So many complain. You got it right. The rounded glass would be ruined with a screensaver. This player wipes many other full-sized players. I just started with the Bluetooth on a lark, for fun. Two months ago, I purchased the M1 and thought it was great for bringing to the dentist for serious work. It holds 256gb. I couldn't believe it. Then, I saw MusicTek advertising the M0. I was so impressed I bought several, one in each color and two as gifts.

I greatly appreciate the manual you have provided. I spent several hours preparing directions for my gift recipients, and these directions look a little better than mine! Thank you again for being involved in this product. It blows me away every single day!

This little thing totally lacks balls. Talked to @shotgunshane and told him to shy away. Similar to the M1, the M0 neuters the aggressiveness of the Andromeda and other IEMs in my collection. It's a solid little player in terms of functionality but it’s not the jesusplayer that the rando shill is espousing.

One month ban for you. Your first two posts lauding the product read like an ad and then you never signed back in? This looks dodgy as hell.

I figured the poster posting "This is my 1st post" twice would give away what a towering intellect he would be. He didn't disappoint.

To be fair, for $100 this thing is pretty interesting. It's not a ZX2 killer for me but it's a solid entry in the low tier price category, has an awesome little form factor and the functionality is impressive. I personally can't give it a rousing endorsement until I find the right IEM pairing.

Did anyone actually claim it would kill a DAP 10x its price?

M0 is about portability and about feature package, where even big players are hardly catching up.

All in one Sabre DAC/AMP was chosen due to physical and battery restrictions. And we think it does some things amazingly well (low output impedance, reasonable power and extremely quiet noise level).

(you should heard first prototype with more common SOC audio, that was some rubbish)

I got my M0 in the mail yesterday and thought I would chime in since I like it so much.

With Andros this is the blackest background I have ever heard, and I am an extremely low volume listener so this means a lot to me.

The M0 loses to my WM1A, probably in most areas, and certainly has a bassier low-Z Andro sound, but it does a really nice job. It is a bit too relaxed (although this is ok with me personally), layering and soundstage depth feels like the biggest weakness in comparison, I feel like there is a bit of harshness somewhere in the upper mids or lower trebly which seems to affect particular songs, and resolution is a bit behind. Soundstage width is actually wider than the Sony I think. Edit: Hiss on WM1A is relatively low, much lower than Sony ZX2 and similar to the old Astell & Kern AK120, but the M0 seems as if there is actually zero hiss, which is a big improvement for the few of us who this matters to.

But this thing is tiny, convenient, UI is fantastic for such a small screen area, scanned my SD card pretty quick, starts up almost instantly, no hiss, great timbre and decent resolution, and the price is amazing. The WM1A barely fits into a pocket. Even taking portability out of the equation I suspect I will use this a lot at home as well depending on mood / type of music where a black background is important.

Also listened for a bit with my modded Hifi Walker IEMs and they sounded fantastic as well.

Big thumbs up from me! I will be using this a lot in the future.

One gotcha with this player is the lack of a proper controls hold/power on-off -just a pretty short press on the crown is used- means if you stick it in a pocket of your bag for a few days as a fallback device, it will almost inevitably come out with a flat battery when you come to use it.

If you're planning to carry one around for occasional use, consider packing it in a small box of some kind, so the controls aren't operated accidentally.

ome small update for you guys, nothing major, small fixes to BT receiver mode and to the system overall.

    Shanling M0, firmware 2.1 notes

    Download from Google drive
    ZIP // File itself

    Changes and fixes

    1. While using M0 in Bluetooth receiver mode with iOS, volume setting on M0 is independent on iOS volume setting.

    2. Fixed the problem of no sound coming out of M0, when being used in Bluetooth receiver mode with particular smartphones.

    3. Optimization of system to prevent crashes.

    4. Fixed other small problems.

    How to update:

    1. Make sure that M0 is fully charged.

    2. Unzip the file and copy “update.bin” file into root folder of micro SD card.

Note: If your M0 is on firmware 1.0 or 1.5, card must be formatted to FAT32. For update from firmware 2.0, you can use all cards.

    3. Choose “System Update” in system settings and wait until system restarts.

    4. Check in settings “About M0” to be sure new firmware was installed.

Hi Bina, thanks for the update. I first tried the "ZIP" version of the update (upgrading from FW v2.0) and it did not work for me. My M0 reported that file to be identical to the 2.0 FW.

Thankfully I was able to upgrade to v2.1 from the "File itself" version tho.

Interesting, didn't get such report from anybody else. Also looking into ZIP fie, it has the correct file.
