It'll be a little bit higher. About 450-500$ range for retail and I guess I'll again will ask for community help and the price for Kickstarter backers will be +- same as for Verum 1.
This is a very ambitious project for DIY-er like me.

Will the tweeters be offered on your site and when will they be available? I design audio speakers and have a soft spot for planar tweeters.

Excited to hear about these plans. Can you share anything yet about the improvements you're looking to make with Verum 2 over 1? :)

I have about 150 pcs lof Verum 1 to be shipped, so it's a primary goal. Should finish during a month.
    Tweeter is ready already:

Crossover 4rd order 1.8 khz @ 105 db. Iphone mic is overloaded.
Still working on minor details and good appearance :D
When tweeter will be ready i'll show all needed graphs and recommended crossovers.
Projected price - 50$ per piece without shipping.
    Shipping about 30$\pair.

If I'll tell you that I became greedy and want to sell same product in another shell for 100$ more would you believe me? ;)

^ I'm taking this as truth. It is a much better story than the other one you gave, concerning durability and reliability, which seems completely false. We all know the real reason is that you want to honor the 8 commissars.

Ha, then I'd tell you that you could probably charge a lot more and very much get away with it. Probably even a handful here that would gladly pay 100$ for just 'cosmetic' changes (aka audio jewelry improvements). But we all know you're going to flip the script on what can be had for $500... :)

Something tells me Verum 2 is going to shake the market badly ( I'm talking to Audeze and ZMF :punk:)
Unfortunately humanity forgot about the analogue world completely. I just have records, not even one single CD in my collection so EQ is out of question :(, still looking forward to Verum 2 though. Verum 1 had a solid bottom end. Hopefully the second version will best it in that regard.

I had an eye on this but unfortunately, it's single ended. My whole system is fully balanced from tonearm cabling up to the Headphone. :( So I have a great penchant for headphones with solid bottom end.

Ahhh.... I lovingly remember tone controls on amplifiers. The Audio police said thou shalt not, and they never made it back.

(And, not to do with anything... Never confuse a solid bottom with a stone arse!)

    Preliminary/Early Impressions

I received my Verum 1 today. The Bubinga finish looks great and overall, construction looks a bit industrial and mass-produced (I mean this in a good way, and I imagine that for @Garuspik this is a good thing). Honestly, I've seen worse quality in more expensive headphones. These definitely don't feel like they're going to fall apart anytime soon.

Maybe it's because I'm used to that extremely hefty and chunky LCD-3 on my head, but the Verum 1 is definitely lighter. I don't know by exactly how much, but definitely a weight I can happily have on my head for hours.

Speaking of comfort, it's excellent. I was concerned about the top of the suspension frame (what is this called?) pressing down on my huge ass head, but honestly I found it doesn't bother me even after two hours. The earpads do get a little warmer than the LCD-3, but the perforated pads are definitely much cooler (I got both sets of pads). Neither set of pads felt like I was going to die of overheating (although the regular pads might be near my limit of what I would consider comfortable).

I still need more time to comment on the sound, but insofar the best way I can put it is that it's kindofsortof-fucking-good. It's not as intense or in-your-face as I remember my LCD-3 being, but it's just so nice to listen to. Timbre is lovely, extension in both treble and bass is superb, and the detail is up there with the LCD-3. Not sure since I don't have my LCD-3 on-hand to compare, but I'm about 95% percent sure that the Verum 1 is much better at nuance; the LCD-3 kind of blares out everything into your ear canals.

As of right now, my only nitpick is that the staging seems HD 650 sized, with a small amount of the three-blob effect going on. Also, the detail is there, but it doesn't seem to resolve as well as my LCD-3. Perhaps it's not like this and I just need more time (and my LCD-3 back haha), but these are so hard to critically listen to; I keep getting sucked into listening to the music.

As far as pads, I will just reiterate the point that I can't critically listen to these for more than about 5 seconds. Most of the time I forget what pads are on there. I'll update the thread when I spend more time.

Oh, and I should mention that this is out of a modest Magni 3. Yup, the Verum 1 + little Schiit + X-Sabre Pro sounds really great! Very synergistic. I am getting in a balanced cable so I can see what this is like out of a Liquid Platinum; unsure of what to expect but definitely looking forward to it!

If a LCD-3 is on sale on HF you all know what happened.

Edit: I should note that the comparisons between LCD-3 and Verum 1 is not really fair towards either headphone at this point since the chains used are completely different. When the LCD-3 is back I'll take a direct comparison.

    Nice impressions.

I find the Verum to be especially good with female vocals. Smooth and creamy planar sound. I care less about details when I'm listening to it. Going back to the LCD feels dry somehow with vocals. This and the HD600 are my top vocal cans.

How much does the Verum leak sound? Would it be possible to use as an office headphone? Not worried much about keeping sound out as much as in.

That's the ZMF Pilot Pad. I don't get why many people don't use it with the HD600/650.
