There's shit everywhere. Just got to find that place where the shit is most bearable. It's a scale with many factors and never black and white. Personally I am disappointed Texas getting involved with what people want to do with their bodies. I could care less if people wanted to have sex with birds or turn themselves into another race.

Care of The Onion from 2010: "8.4 Million New Yorkers Suddenly Realize New York City A Horrible Place To Live"

    It starts thus:

"NEW YORK—At 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, every single resident of New York City decided to evacuate the famed metropolis, having realized it was nothing more than a massive, trash-ridden hellhole that slowly sucks the life out of every one of its inhabitants. With audible murmurs of "This is no way to live," "What the hell am I doing here—I hate it here," and "f**k this place. f**k this horrible place," all 8.4 million citizens in each of the five boroughs packed up their belongings and told reporters they would rather blow their brains out with a shotgun than spend another waking moment in this festering cesspool of filth and scum and sadness."

"This place sucks," Manhattan resident Woody Allen, 74, told reporters. "It just f'ing sucks."

    And ends with this gem:

"By Tuesday night, New York was completely abandoned. At press time, however, some 10 million Los Angeles–area residents, tired of their self-centered, laid-back culture and lack of four distinct seasons, and yearning for the hustle and bustle of East Coast life, had already begun repopulating the city."

Were they turned NYC into a jail and rigged the bridges with land mines? Sure...that sounds true.

There was a sequel Escape from L.A.

I think that's where the state of California implemented a wealth exit tax for leaving California.
    https://calmatters.org/economy/2023/01/wealth-tax-migration/

Sounds too crazy, but I wouldn't count anything out over there. CalMatters I what I read about events over there. I don't trust L.A. Times, Fox, CNN, Tucker, etc.

California is overpopulated anyway. The environment of wildfires, dwindling water supplies, rising housing prices, high electricity prices (to pay for renewable sources, and just too much strain on the power grid, and overall environment crumbling is evidence of this. So maybe it is good that people move out of California.

The current amount of the California exit tax is 0.4% of an individuals’ net worth over $30,000,000 in a tax year. So I seriously doubt it would affect anyone here.

Are we gonna talk about audio stuff?

did you have to do anything special to run the e80cc vs the ecc82? My normal driver is a Tungsram ecc82, but I've always read positive reviews of the e80cc and was curious (but afraid) to try it.

Yes, I had to change the bias. So I installed an appropriately sized potentiometer so I could bias between stock and e80cc.

Escape from LA is underrated and great. It will happen for real if Mike Pence becomes president and makes California America's gulag. Great ending too.

The American Civil War breaks out all over the place.

It's like the Spanish Inquisition --- which nobody expects.

According to 1993 Chris Rock, the term to use is "yakoo"... (although personally I am a fan of "honkaloid")

    I hear you Marv

I gave up on taking it all ( and myself ) too seriously some time ago - I probably should engage more in the banter but my job still sucks up a lot of my time ( don't get me wrong - I love what I do for a living and consider myself fortunate to be able to do it , but it comes with its own set of barbs ) and when I am not working or hanging out with my family, I am building shit because that is my therapy. I have started to pay more attention to being active, especially as I now spend too many hours on zoom meetings and don't get in the 15000 steps that were the norm.

My rig has little to no reference for anyone as most of it is either heavily modified or DIY but I will give it a go.

    Home office :
Franken monitors - tang band long throw 5" woofer in Optimus cast aluminum chassis ( lots of internal treatment to stop it ringing ) crossed over at about 200 Hz to Monsoon panels bolted on top of the chassis - there are pics in the DIY thread somewhere.x
Modi Multi as source ( with Eitr)
Amp - EL84 based Baby Huey

Headphones - original platinum proto ( better than Crimson ;) ) & whatever vintage planar happens to be within reach ( most commonly the Yamaha YHD1, modified of course )

    Work office:
Optimus AV7 (Realistic Minimus 7) - heavily modified , sound astonishingly good
    Cambridge sub - MINX X201
    R2R ladder dac
M2X - DIY version of the First Watt M2

    Home
Maggie 0.7i ( believe it or not - no mods )
    PS Audio DAC
Pre - either Liquid Glass or whatever I have built - B1 tube , Iron Pre is about to get some airtime
Power - whatever shit I happen to have built , currently balanced M2OPS

Headphones - as I mostly chill when listening on this rig , I use the Glass and modified HD600s

On the move I use IEMs ( and horror of horrors - use a TRN Bluetooth adapter to get rid of the cables ) - Rhythm Devils S12 is my go to - walk the dog 3-5miles every day

life is too short to sweat the small stuff
