Family, friends and music...truly precious.
Thanks to everyone who reached out. We are back home and returning to "normal" again. Thank you all.
Good to hear all of you are OK
Hope you are well, bud. I know the fires are by your neck of the woods.
Hey, I hear you, but its only records. 8-( . Bob Levi's even closer to it' isnt he?
Stay safe @shaizada. My wife had family displaced yesterday by the fires :-(
Send your records to me for safekeeping! I promise you’ll get most of them back.
Wish everyone a fantastic new year. Welcome 2017!! Please be good to my friends, family and loved ones.
Rightfully....excited! Dream sound and setup furthered. Pinch me!
Mingus out and Bird's back in ;
Sounds like a good day!
The SHOW at Newport starts tomorrow!!! You guys MUST go to get a hint of how deep the rabbit hole can go :) tons of HiFi under one roof!
Not so much this year @Pyruvate . Last year, I setup the EAR / Marten room from scratch...but not this year. Also, the sound is decent this year in that room, but I'm not blown away. I might take those Mingus Quintet speakers home right after the SHOW to give them a honest spin in my own setup.
Did you get to take them home?
They will come this week sometime. Everyone is exhausted from the SHOW right now :)
Warm up your setup and watch this very quietly: http://www.cokestudio.com.pk/season7/episode4.html?WT.cl=1&WT.mn=Episode%20Four#&view=video4

Hi shaizada! I just wanted to know if you could recommend any speakers for rock/metal and also a nice tube integrated to go with them. Looking at about $3k for speakers and $2k for amp. It seems any tube amps this cheap are crappy Chinese stuff and brands like Manley, EAR, BAT etc cost a lot more money.
Get these speakers, while I find a proper amp match for you.

@shaizada Thank you so much for having me over Saturday night to listen to your setup! It was absolutely amazing!
Hey, you are ABSOLUTELY welcome! :) Sorry it was a short session, but it was a little late at night so had to tend to my daughter who won't sleep without me telling her a story or something! Come by again sometime when u are in town and we can enjoy another listening session.
Listening to Lester Young – Le Dernier Message de Lester Young – 1959 Mono vinyl on Sam Records label. AWESOME!!
Nice! I have lusted after the Chet Baker stuff on Sam Records but almost everything they put out looked great. Enjoy, Lester is a treat.
Azteca, I have everything they released on that label...the Chet Baker releases are killer! Buy blindly on that label so far...everything is just stunning quality.
VPI CLASSIC 4 ROSEWOOD INCOMING!!!! Not mine, but sure as hell feels like it :)
Yes it does. This one will come with the 12" 3D arm.
is it the soundstagedirect unit?
Yes, being bought through Soundstagedirect. I bet the person is even more excited than I am! :)
could you suggest me more Indian classical masterpieces like the one shown in pictures of your speaker setup by you...Dagar Brothers - Chant Dhrupad (Nasir Zahiruddin Dagar - vocal
Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar - vocal
Sri Laxmi Naraian Pawar - pakhawaj
Mussarat Dagar - tampura)
i would really really appreciate it
That is a good idea because I can see many Indian members here on this forum and I am sure they all have something interesting to contribute.
Cool, see you Sunday!
When I was younger, I loved dhrupad so much I actually studied pakhawaj for two years with Pt. Mohan Shyam Sharma. It's really beautiful and I'll be happy to make some recommendations plus maybe I can link to some decent intro explanations of Indian classical generally.
I am jealous.....I think those are really fortunate who know/understand/studied Indian classical/Hindustani music/Carnatic music....it must really help enjoy listening to them even more.
