Schiit Fulla 2 Released

It's soooo cute! Can we get a tiny Wyrdlet to stack it on?

 

I, for one, am pleased that the headphone showcased alongside the Fulla 2 is a Golden Schlong winner.

 

The DragonFly Black is small but the Fulla 2 has a proper volume control with an aux for headphones and an aux for monitors/speakers.

Yet the Fulla 2 is only 99 Dollars. Yeah this Fulla 2 is my next upgrade.

 

To me this is perhaps the most confusing feature of the Fulla 2. Is there a realistic case scenario where people with powered monitors will actually use a dangling dongle like this instead of say a SYS?

 

I can imagine all sorts of desktop speakers that would qualify. Maybe 'monitors' is a red herring.

 

I imagine some powered monitors with the Fulla2 on usb wall power and I hook up my phone for an awesome bedroom rig with very little outlay .

 

Sure. Those people who want an all in one solution who don't want/can't afford a Jotun with internal DAC...like me. A single cable from this running to my old Audioengine A2's should be a very nice budget rig for my CNC/laser cutting room/office.

And why are we calling it a dongle? It doesnt plug directly into a laptop, and it looks way too heavy to dangle off of a small cable. If it has feet, it is a desktop solution.

 

Yes. Same here. I cannot afford Jotun yet hence ordered Fulla2. I am keen to get Jotun (Amp only option) and have Fulla2 L/O to Jotun so both portable and desktop options are covered...

 

Wouldn't make a ton of sense because the power gets fed to a switch mode which regenerates +/-5V. From the FAQ:

What would make more sense to me is a matching chipamp for passive desktop speakers.

 

Will never happen from them, though if they were to let go of some modi sized chasses that have flaws. I'd love to stuff something into one to have the Fulla 2 sit on top of.

 

Righto, UAC2 drivers are now in the Windows 10 insider builds >= 14912. They are actually on there way.

You mean use the dangling dongle that is the Sys instead of the Fulla 2? Monitors/speakers/whatever.

Well, sure, the similarities are uncanny, but stop at the price tag: $499 for the M9XX.

 

Ha, we knew it existed, but until looking at the specs now, I didn't realize how close they seem to be. Still, that's a very different implementation. Our aux power in doesn't enable more power out, we're not using a volume control chip, etc.

Edit: and wow, that's a lot of features--filters, crossfeed, etc. Really a different product.

 

I'm wondering if someone can ELI5 - why does the Fulla2 have so much more power than Fulla1 at low impedance (16, 32, 50 ohm), but at 300 ohm they both output the same 40mw (at least that's what the specs show). Also, I've never really understood why sometimes the power rating for an amp can actually go up with increased resistance up to some point, and then after that point as resistance increases, power goes back down.
