Why is it always Australia or New Zealand with the good post rock? I think it has to be the landscape. The sights and sounds lend itself to that. Every time I hear music of these bands, I think of peaceful nights sleeping under the stars somewhere in the parts of Florida that at the time didn't even have cell service. Or early-late drives through the westerly parts of scenic A1A, with its wizened and bearded cypress and oak cast aglow in faded, bleeding silhouettes lit only by the faint haze of pre-dawn's promises, still asleep. That's like, the closest I can get. Go anywhere in Florida still relatively undisturbed by humans, and it feels a bit like this sounds. So I think they must have some natural inspiration from their surroundings.

Something about the slathering of layered reverb and tonal sweeping on everything feels like vicks vapor rub for my braincase. It's so nice. It's like a cranial nebulizer.

Ola and Bonobo was a pairing that always had to happen and I never knew until someone here turned me onto it a couple of years back. Glad to see that work still making rounds! People have sent me tik tok shorts that used parts of it and part of me is annoyed by that... but I also understand that that only happened because it has something so pure and archetypal about it that it can go with many things. They made something that speaks to many, with no words. A talent I sadly lack

I never saw the video, the imagery is super interesting to me. I can remember sitting in my room under dim amber light with my head cocked back and my eyes closed, being baptized in ASMR tingles. They definitely knew what they were going for, and it's some of the most delicately beautiful electronic art I've personally witnessed.

I need the rage today though. Blow the dust off of my 12.

I really need to make a "crash-out" playlist full of nothin but stuff like this. I don't listen to explicitly angry hip-hop often, but when I do, it's all that I wanna hear.

Honestly though, this guy doesn't get enough love. He's really talkin on the back half! Told no lies.

Too much bliss, the only answer to your question is a "yes." I'm gonna say yes, shoepop or dreamgaze. It just depends on whether you were gazing at shoes or popping dreams when the song began. After that, the answer is obviously just "yes." Nothing more or less.

Id never listened to this Ichika Nito guy before, but YouTube showed me this new song of his and wow, I've been listening to it an absurd amount the last several days.

It combines the incredible songwriting of earlier Polyphia with the crazy technical prowess of the more recent Polyphia album, stuff like playing god, where I felt that Polyphia kinda lost sight of good songwriting in the name of guitar wank, none of that here. Metaphor is stunning and emotional at the same time, incredible song.

Compliments to whoever arranged and produced this.

Ok. Looks like I have some digging to do. This is fantastic.

I mentioned Andrew W. K. a few times. This is one of the best musical moments for me this year. The moment it is just him and the piano you forget about his commercial work. He loves music, that is it. (This inspired me to get back to piano, mind you.)
