More recent - a few years ago I started to play music when I'd visit my mom. She suffers from dementia but responds to music, taps her feet, nods her head, etc. Played a lot of Sinatra since I remembered she listened to him back in the day. Damned if I didn't get hooked. Listen to him at home pretty frequently
Back in my college years I got listening to a lot of Shostakovich. All the symphonies. Different orchestras. The Oregon Symphony was also performing some of the Shostakovich symphonies.
Long is relative, but i discovered a new singer, G.E.M., in May and she basically took over a sizable portion of all of my music listening ever since. Replacing the majority of pop I listened to up till that point
