One of the major downsides of streaming and downloads over physical media

Playing a CD made you reluctant to switch to listen to a different song and it was preferable to just listen to the next track. Vinyl is even stronger because finding a specific song is a pain so you are encouraged to play from the beginning and wait until the song you wanted started playing

Hit/Single releases are commercial decisions, favorite tracks are personal.

CD was relatively easy to skip/choose tracks. Vinyl was the thing, because every time one picked that stylus up and put it down was a living dangerously!

I'm still a "full album" type person as a default setting. Obviously some of that comes from having one foot still in vinyl.

Sure, random playlists for background music is fine and all, but if I'm queueing it up, it's full albums.

I am too. Always was. But, these days, I do find myself browsing and skipping from song to song.

Guilty. Decreasing my social media these days to read more. Today Joy Division/New Order.

Actually, that’s what I liked most about Qobuz when I switched from Spotify: No personalised playlists (at the time, but it’s still not much). Everybody sees the same front page. Browsing like at a record store, because no algorithm chooses what to hear for you.
I had already gone to a bit more album listening before, but only with Qobuz it reached high levels again.
