It's your power.
I was afraid to say that, but damn.
@k4star is right about power, also it's much lower ambient noise.
Invest in some filtering/conditioning if you're OK with the rest of your system. I recommend going on Chang and finding the thread discussing power there, some informative posts by DaveBSC on the do's and don'ts.
Yep ... the power grid is less stressed at night. My rig always sounds a tad more clear in the evening. I notice less of a difference between day vs night now that my stuff is plugged into a series mode surge protector but there is still a slight difference.
I think it's our ears, they hear less highs and more midrange by nighttime.
I agree about the power. There is also something about mood that often makes music more enjoyable at night. (I can be listening to a DAP or in my car, for example.) It might just be me.
@Dino I'm with you. For me it's something about listening in total solitude.
Add a drink or a fresh coffee if that is your thing...
Darkness helps too. Music always sounds better in the dark or with my eyes closed.
In my part of the world, I doubt that the power is cleaner at night, because everybody has got their AC (air-con) machines on. Lower ambient noise, yes... except for my AC machine, of course. India... Just can't get away from noise of one kind or another.
But being an owl, I find night better for most stuff, including music.
@k4star, have a link to that CS page? Tried to search but came up with nothing.
Did you end up getting that Haley in? would love to hear your thoughts
I did, though I haven't had time to really A/B it yet. Maybe I'll have a better picture in a week or so.
