    Power - cleaner than ever

During the R&D stage of iPower, introduced into our portfolio in 2015, we challenged ourselves by aiming to manufacture the quietest power supply available and make it compliant with as many products as possible. The feedback from the audiophile community and the longevity of this product was very positive.

We never rest on our laurels and would now like to introduce the new higher model - more visually pleasing and suitable for more products than ever - the new iPower X.

    Active beats passive

iPower X uses our latest Active Noise Cancellation 2 (ANC2) technology to cancel all incoming EMI/RFI noise. This technology is, in principle, similar to how active noise-cancelling headphones work. The intelligent circuit inside of the iPower X measures the signal coming from the mains and injects an identical wave of the opposite-phase. The result - the initial wave and its mirror reflection interfere destructively cancelling out all noise pollution.

Have you ever tried to compare passive and ANC headphones on a plane? The former is not capable of picking up the low-frequency noise, such as a loud engine inside of a cabin, but the latter neutralises it before the unwanted buzz reaches your ear.

Now, picture a regular wall-wart power supply as passive cans and our iPower X as an active product with the most potent version of the ANC tech on-board. The latest generation noise suppression method implemented in the iPower X is far more efficient than the regular filter blocks. It eliminates more unwanted noise and works across a far broader range, liberating your connected device from the oppression of unclean power!

Our previous iPower generation was quieter than even audiophile linear power supplies and 1,000x quieter than the standard SMPS wall adapters. The newly-optimised circuit, together with the new oversized power MOSFET and low leakage transformer implemented inside of the iPower X enabled us to surpass these multipliers even further.

The iPower X increased its previous generation’s input filter capacitance by 106% and its power supply capacitance for the adaptive multi-mode controller by 220%.

We also added the new aluminium conductive polymer solid capacitors and high-density output inductors as well as increased the output capacitance by 79% for better suppression of high-frequency noise.

    Modernised visuals, even broader usability

As much as we enjoy how our iPower looks like, its successor, iPower X features a brand new satisfying cream/harmonious beige chassis design. The captivating carvings on its top form an elegant pattern, behind which a pleasant soft blue LED indicates the connection with mains.

We also managed to add more power to the previous generation of iPower, the new iPower X can deliver 150% more peak power than the original.

What is the msrp? I could be interested in one instead of building an lps due to space constraints.

    Oh neat.

I hope it's widely available, because your Italian resellers are utterly rubbish and if it's not on amazon your stuff is really hard to get here.

I'd actually be interested in seeing how this fares against @atomicbob's Noise Nuke.

I’m seeing them listed for preorder in Canada for around $140, and in the EU for 99 Euros, so I assume around $100-110 US. They’re available in Canada on the site I found around mid March.

Yup! There's a thread about it right here: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.o...ise-nuke-for-hp-amps-with-external-smps.5142/

Took an interest because I've got a Sunrise myself, but my DIY and repair skills are... in need of refinement, plus I've been wanting to buy a particular component for a while so I never got around to buying what I needed for this despite the short grocery list. It's a much simpler design than the iFi but I'm wondering how much of a difference there'll be.

Also curious to get @atomicbob's input on this, at his convenience of course :)

Forgot about this but did you guys ever manage to send one over? @rtaylor76's bumping the noise nuke thread reminded me I was looking forward to this comparison, haha.

At this moment there are numerous devices and special requests (such as SW51+ with various tubes) in the measurement queue. I'd like to add this one but it will be awhile.

*edit* corporate tether is connected for the foreseeable future, full retirement postponed indefinitely.

I decided to snag one of these for my Pro-ject Classic Evo turntable, I had some Amazon credit and figured why not give it a try, can't hurt. I was surprised by the difference it made. We are talking about very subtle changes (final 1% of sound here, don't expect miracles), but I found the following improvements:
    • Blacker background: Not like it is reducing surface noise, but it is clear that music is emerging from a blacker background.
    • Instrument separation/delineation: Different sounds/instruments have much more space and air between them. It is kind of like the rough edges of sounds is removed and everything is smoother without sacrificing detail.
    • Dynamics: Overall things seem less dull/flat and things really seem to pop. Fuller and more organic
I would note one minor negative. I found some female vocals to become a bit more dull/nasally compared to the stock wall wart. Now...I may have just formed this opinion because my initial testing was not on a particularly well-mixed record/pressing, but sometimes once you get something in your head you just keep looking for it and convince yourself of it. When I tested a few other records the difference seemed much less pronounced. So maybe I am crazy, but I just figured I would note in case your system is already lacking in this area.

I still have a couple of months before the return window is up on this (likely I keep it unless overtime I feel there are not major enough differences compared to stock wall wart), so will report back after more prolonged testing with final thoughts/assesment.

(Chain for testing was Pro-ject Classic Evo with stock Sumiko Amethyst cartridge -> Tavish Vintage Phono Pre with Tung-Sol tubes -> Asgard 3 -> HD 600)
