Adam D3Vs were legit. Wow.. they do so many things high-fidelity-ish despite too cute form factors and compromised placements. Jun 5, 2025

Revisiting portapro (before going bed) is rather a philosophical discourse — Does what they can’t resolve really matter?

I regularly listen to my porta pros with yaxi pads straight out of my LG phone when going to bed, and just about every night it sends me into an existential crisis where I question everything I have built to/accumulated in this hobby.

Over the summer at YG acoustics a customer wanted a full size floorstanding pair of speakers in champagne gold. Unfortunatly the tanks of that color at the anodizing place were not big enough for the panels. I wanted to see how bad/good it would look.

Yeah i felt like either it would work great, or look terrible. A big problem is color matching between the panels. Thats why they didnt offer other colors. They have a red, but there were so many issues with it. Mostly just black and silver, much easier to match panels.

Well yeah the lack of resolution for the first half arcs kinda comes with the territory, haha. The sense of escalation between Q & A is part of what I loved about the franchise.

I used to be into VNs but less so lately, and far fewer games in general. Just feel kinda meh about it.

Also I've yet to check out S;G0 so thanks for the tip! Adding it to the list. Original was fine IMO.

I didn't know much either lol. I can comfortably say his work of Mr Tonegawa was great though, but that's a little different style from When They Cry. The scriptwriter is a very capable guy anyway, so mildly optimistic haha.

But explaining why I liked it this much isn't easy. Trid to list some terms but neither was fully convincing to me. Feels like I just didn't find proper wording yet. Multi-dimensional flavor might be the closest to my honest feeling, but leaves room to be specified.

I am very attracted by its huge 24G memory as my requirement is to load as large batch as possible at once. Hopefully (if it works as I imagine) could finish some sort of tasks much faster and make me less nervous for high dimensional big data.

While Magnius generally on the relaxed and softer side, occasionally harshness heard w 650. All such disappeared if switched to hmp/vrt tho.

Huh, odd. So the Erish is categorically "harsher" with other transducers but the HD650 comes across as moreso when with the Magnius specifically? Talk about pairing, hah.

Want to clarify I failed to hear any harsh piece from Erish with verite (grado not testable -- bal only amp) in any context. On the flip side, 650+Mgns picks up treble "errors" in some (pattern hardly predictable) marginal recordings: good for some, not for me.

Haha I liked asgard too. Also think it overall sbaf-better. But my taste departs from the forum average, particularly when it comes to hd650. Frankly I couldn’t hear 650 long when I had a3. It’s eventually a matter of context and taste I believe.

Yes same here with 650 A3 BUT Bifrost 2 really made a difference there for me. I felt it lagged behind SW51 and LP a lot with 650. Not so much now.

Then we may have more fundamental differences in tastes as I didn’t like lp at all and sw+650 wasn’t fully convincing to me. All with bifrost 2.

With HD650, yeah, very different. Some virtues shared but presentation largely different. I think Erish cooler and faster in voicing while Magnius is a little more sedative.

I believe the Macan and Q5 share the same platform, but suspension design is totally different. The Macan (no "S") has the same engine as the Golf R (we really regret not getting the real V6 Porsche engine ...$) but has more than enough torque and power.

The Q5 is front wheel drive biased, while the Macan rear biased 4WD. I didn't bother to test drive the Q5 after reading reviews, but drove the X3 and there was no comparison in handling and steering feedback. Told the wife if she was going to make me drive an SUV it was going to have to be the Macan. PS the new tail lights suck, glad we got the OG

@JK47 close, it's the same platform as the Audi Q5. IIRC Porsche did the engine development on everything except for the 4cyl (VW EA888 2.0 TFSI) and the diesels. True Porsche PDKs in them, too.
