It’s like Americans celebrating Canadian Holidays. Weird as f**k if you ask me.

It's a marketing scheme just like valentines day, except by Corona and Tecate, instead of Hallmark. Ya pays yer money...

Maybe in the US we should just replace it with "National Tequila and eat tacos day" . Similar to St Patricks Day, but with better food.

Meh, with that thinking one could get into dicey territory like, “You shouldn’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day unless you’re a practicing Christian of Irish heritage.” And more nonsense beyond that.

Same goes for St. Patrick's Day, if you have zero connections to Ireland.

I have a personal connection to Mexico and it's a shit holiday. Nobody I know celebrates it.. It's a marketing holiday. Bars and work are the only place I see anything going on.

Cinco de Mayo is a minor Mexican holiday... but a major US marketing holiday that ostensibly celebrates mexican/american heritage (but really just an easy way to sell beer, tequila, and a reason to party)

Cinco de Mayo is really a Californian celebration. I bought some brisket tamales to celebrate Mexican culture.

FYI everyone I don't do St. Patty Day...I'm not a f'ing Irishman. I don't even do Christmas/Three Kings Day either....I don't cash in on other peoples cultures/faiths and take advantage of it. I personally think it is disrespectful. Then again, I am a hard ass and perhaps @crenca knows what I'm blabbing about.

Mexicans here think Cinco de Mayo is bullshit. They don't celebrate it. Most of my kids friends are Mexican.

Well you're a hairy ass that's for sure. One advantage of being in the church of the east is that our calendar does not line up with the civil calendar, which helps maintain the cognitive dissonance between "holiday" & "holy-day"

It is just an excuse to drink margaritas and have burritos. We should all celebrate Canada Day with donuts and beer.

I celebrate cultural holidays by supporting the specific type of restaurant cuisine and tipping way above average for that day. I seem to enjoy wonderful food and really strong drinks.
