I feel like we are old homies, that's the type of deal!! I have not tried the fancy cable yet, it is very different from any of my other cans! Not sure this makes sense, but they seem forward in lows, mids and highs, but always at different times, not together...and the highs almost sound metallicish. Give me some more time to digest!! But I think they will grow on me, even though I dig them off rip.

When I opened the fancy cable, it looked like an Elven crafted McGuffin. Sooooooo pretty.

@SofaSamuraiX I think you’re in the right mind to not spend more for a tube than amp.

Psvane seems to be looking to get deep into the OEM tube market, especially with the perceived (or not?) geopolitical issues with New Sensor tubes. In a nutshell, Psvane 12V tubes: not junk, overpriced but not really anything more than okay sounding. just imho.

a tube type is just a mechanical construction to achieve a certain set of electrical characteristics. it can’t inherently sound forward or aggressive. Look at the circuit, surrounding components and individual tube instead.

OK, I was wondering about the voltage being higher at 12 vs what I have in the Valhalla 2, and my brain went to that being a factor for the perceived more forceful nature of the gremlin vs valhalla. I am highly uneducated on some things!!!

Interesting, the knock (and imho) on V2 was the top end harshness, mitigated by using Amperex or similar. Nowadays, I like rolling pads, definitely cheaper.

Find neutral equipment you can afford, use it exclusively for 5+ years, and you’ll be ready to listen to anything without being concerned about potential bias.
