Update: friend opted not to lend the HD800, got an extended demo anyway. HD650 without driver foam. Ah well.

As for the 650s' missing the foam, he mentioned something about them deteriorating? Considering dropping a bit of cash on replacements + Dynamat so I can try SBAF-modding these.

Yeah go for modding! I wouldn't worry about the foam though (you mean the tiny foam behind the driver?)

iDSD vs Eitr as USB>SPDIF? iFi has sentimental value, will keep around as transp AIO anyway, just wondering if Eitr needed for USB Modi Multibit.

Definitive proof, right there. haha, guess I'll save up for a bit longer so I can get both as a package, save a bit on shipping. Thanks!

(Might still keep the iFi around for travelling to hotels or what, but if funds are tight I'll let it go :P)

How much was...? $430 for the Schiit plus however much it'll cost to get them cross-Pacific, haha.

Sold off a lot of gear recently for reasons, left with X00 EBs, iDSD silver, and an HP-V1 porta hybrid amp. Eventual upgrade to HD800 once I can manage, plus getting friend pricing on a LP G109A when said friend "upgrades" to CMA-600i.

(Really though, this means a lot, know you're busy. Thanks.)

I remember watching the first one in high school in the early 2000's. Then I realized that it was in 4:3, and now I feel older. I remember it being pretty grim.

There is so much good music and only so little time. It is easy to miss out on a good album. Paramore sounds a bit like the Talking Heads and that is a good thing. The Talking Heads were unique...

Ehh, I'll snag some HD650s soon and get to listen to them in my environment, so I'll see how bad the ringing in my ears gets after a standard listening session, haha.

Incidentally, forgot to respond yesterday @zonto, but in my experience babies can be loud. Very. Loud :))

Are those sound levels being reported dBA or dBC? Big difference. My own environment can be as low as 15 ~ 20 dBA. That usually measures 25 ~ 30 dBC.

As one who recently came into a few LPs, question: how good an analogue set do I need to make a decent needledrop? (digital user here)

No worries, I figured the price of entry for a good TT wouldn't be so low. I understand that a great deal more work goes into the production of these things than most people expect (5-digit pricetags for tonearms? Mi madre), so even just getting one to digitise my LPs will likely set me back a lot.

At this rate, might just wait on the new Schiit system and just keep the LPs pristine as I can.

I think any tube amp can be steampunked up by just adding tube dampeners.

@ButtUglyJeff I'm a total newb when it comes to tubes, so I had no idea things like tube dampers even existed!

While I do agree they look cool, it doesn't hurt to have a good base to build upon! Way out of my budget for now, but I think I'll be saving up for a Decware Taboo, which @Melvillian recommended a bit earlier (provided its sound matches the asking price). It looks fucking awesome, is all :))
