Speculating as to what, if any, improvement Vidar will bring to my secondary system after replacing Onkyo TX-8555.

Khozmo pre in primary system replacing OG Freya. No problem getting plenty of volume. Should be fine w/Vidar.

More listening is needed, but I may actually prefer Khozmo to OG Freya.

Update on Vidar order: should ship by end of next week. Am consider a Bifrost for desktop or secondary to replace Modi MB.

Now that I’ve lived with the Dynaudio Evoke 10 for a bit, don’t know if I can listen to anything less - and I need upgrade for 2nd system.

And, to top it off, I'm struggling with impatience, as I am still awaiting my Vidar order (placed 1/29/21) to be fulfilled. Patience! Easier said than done, my friends.

@gixxerwimp I don’t think the Khozmo products have switchable outputs. The more upscale Hattor gear might - best to check their site or email w/query.

@Cryptowolf SVS has two similar models the PB-1000 and the SB-1000. SB is sealed, PB is ported. I read sealed works better for music in smaller spaces; ported better in larger spaces and for movies.

@Cryptowolf of course, "better" is all relative. I'm not a HUGE basshead, so I think the SB-1000 will kick ass for whatever I throw at it given my space and tastes! Prolly more bass than I could ever need!

I don't, but I noticed they're a subsidiary of Rolls, and based on the one Rolls product I've used (a reach, I know) I'd expect a sturdy build but mid-fi-ish quality otherwise. Would be nice if it's a sleeper brand tho.

try a software program that analyses the peaks and reduces the volume to the output file. I use one that is no longer available but there should be some more out there. You would be amazed at how many albums have intersample over zero peaks.

Or you can just lower the volume digitally in the player software by 1db or 2db prior to it getting to the dac and achieve the same thing.
