Finally figuring out the cause of the last remaining issues I was having and getting them ironed out has led to almost total contentment

If Soup can become content with hifi, there's hope for all of us ;)

I finished Lost earlier this year. No idea how I went so long not seeing it. What an ambitious show for its time. I loved it.

I did "Lost" Marathon back in 2010. Loved the experience.

I see the actor who played Jack Sawyer is back in JJ Abrams new series Duster, and he has not aged at all. I might check it out, pretty sure it won't be a classic like Lost though.

There was a brand Id never heard of, Albedo, from Italy that I thought was pretty impressive. Very dynamic, using Accuton CELL woofers in a transmission line....bass wasn't very deep, but what was there the speaker did very well

The Magico room was good. I think it was the boulder amps that was common in there and both rockport rooms.

My best room was the Bell Sound and Analysis Audio room.

Makes you wonder how close those clones can get, judging from the Dartzeel ones there is some corners cut but those can be amended, like some bypass caps, make sure the caps are real etc.

Hmm, I haven’t heard an m-3, but I hadn’t gotten the impression it was all that different.

From what I’ve heard about dart clones from others, they aren’t that impressive. That doesn’t mean soulnote clones will be bad, but I would hazard a guess they won’t be built the same way which i think is where some of the sound comes from.

I got it used, but yeah, it definitely wasn't cheap. the A-2 I got for 4.3k is a lot better value, but so it goes when you're chasing the high end. When an amp can do things you haven't heard before though, it's hard to quantify the value. Clearly in like absolute value terms the A-3 is worse.

but then when you sort of account for diminishing returns and the cost of improvements, I don't think the result is bad. In my post I describe not enjoying it at first, during that time I did not think it was worth the price, and was planning on sending it back

In this case I think his wallet will come out ahead! But also makes him dead to me (as a fellow Coda owner). :)

It certainly does look interesting. I'd be concerned I'd lose the grip and slam of the Coda, especially with my Maggies. I know you recently changed your speakers so maybe the load isn't as demanding and the Coda's nearly infinite current reserves aren't as necessary.

yeah the soulnote stuff isn't as universal of a recommendation, you really have to take more care in what speakers you pair them with. kind of like Dartzeel. Im not sure that magnepan would be a great choice

I am unsure of the permanence of this solution lol I will have to see, I may get the fireplace removed and build in a nicer looking bass trap in its place. But I do like that this is non destructive....

Cosmetic cloth would be easy to add while you decide what to do next. On the other hand, if you have no problem with appearances, then... no problem.

other than that have exposed some serious bass issues in my room that the old speakers did not, they sound incredible. I brought the old ones back out to measure them as well, and listened to them again, they just sound so flat and lacking dynamics vs the new EA MM2s, its wild

Taste of real dynamic scale.

Mid level speakers in well treated rooms can sound better than hi-end speakers in challenged acoustic spaces.

I got the diffusion panels in today, they didn't make as large of a difference, but it's definitely there. oddly enough, I think the bass improved the most. Imaging got marginally sharper and the slight sense of over damped highs is gone now with the diffusers at side wall first reflection points

Just to pour more oil in the fire we have a new development happening - to be revealed in Munich this year. It is smaller and cheaper than Forza yet does a few things even better.

@crenca Wrt loudness I believe SoupR heard them play plenty loud in a generous room. At least what Alfred tells me there was nightclub music and loudness at one point.

I don’t actually listen that loud normally, but yeah, when I was demoing them Sunday morning, they turned it up very loud for some of my tracks and they didn’t have any issues.

The upper unit is midbass with some considerable xmax capability. It only fills the range from 75 to 150 Hz. This is key to produce explosive slam of drums and portray accurate and pure upper bass notes.

Also, Estelon philosophy is all the drivers (also the woofers) have to be locked in phase in xo regions - with precision. This is why the bass is that damn accurate. From there on the pure midrange takes over - up to 2 kHz. This driver is very low xmax extremely specialist mid driver only. The construction is basically that of a mega-tweeter. It would suck at producing any bass.

That makes sense, Danny Carey’s drums sounded better on Invincible than any other rig at the show

So far for me the highlights of the show are the Perlisten room, the Rockport room and the sb acoustics room with the new Gema diy speaker

Century Blvd in LA runs in between 99th st. and 101st st. It took me 3 years of driving that road on a regular basis before It occurred to me where Century got its name from.
