I accidentally posted here and couldn't delete it, so I edited it. Actually I wanted to comment on your answers in my latest status.

Is there a technical term for the phenomenon that one hears one's own footsteps while wearing in-ears?

Occlusion effect. Drove me mad when I was using typical IEMs for running. The Bose Soundsport, which sort of rest in the ear with their wings, is much better. Airpods also do okay.

I only use IEMs when sitting still because of this.

Thanks for your thoughts. Occlusion effect makes sense to me! I try to find a good fitting German term for it, because there is none.

DHL "lost" my Yggdrasil+ on its way to the European Schiit distributor. Fortunately, I decided to pay 74€ for shipping with insurance!

They claim it was delivered (as the tracking states), but it wasn't.

Only after having my lawyer writing DHL a letter they paid. Before they just stated that it was succesfully delivered.

Fortunately, I did not skimp on the insurance sum. Normally, it's only 500 € for DHL parcels here.

        Lesson learned.

I’m not seeing an option to generate any invites, are you sure you can’t just register as a new user? I’m pretty sure that’s what I did.

I wonder how good hifi gear was in 1981. I have no idea. Because I would claim that one "magical" listening experience I had this year was definitely only possible because of the very expensive high end gear that was carefully assembled and tweaked by the owner. I knew the song we were listening to and I already liked it before, but it sounded so otherwordly on his rig that it was indeed "magical" in a sense.

Concerning music in general I'd also claim that one needs at least a decent system in order to appreciate much music. At the same time there's also music that doesn't need a decent system but I think he's too generalizing there or has never heard a truly great two channel setup (again, I don't know what was possible in 1981).

Freudian weirdness aside, most of what's in there is pretty familiar stuff. Especially the final target really being manufacturers ginning up nonsense reasons to sell stuff for inflated prices.

I also got the hint in a forum, probably the Roon forum. If I remember correctly, the person stated he uses it regularly and it works.

After the cancellation of the subscription Tidal offers me 14,99 € for 12 months instead of 19,99 €. So if anyone wants to save some money, might be worth the try ;)

Well, I visited someone with a crazy system who not only invested lots of money, but also modded most of his equipment. He modded his B&W 800 D3, the Ayre monoblocks etc. and built himself a PSU with megaspecial components etc. I did not understand everything, because I am not an engineer. The first song was "Agnes Obel - Familiar" and it sounded SO different and fascinating that it made me cry instantly.

While I have never heard such an amount of detail and such a huge stage in every direction (sounds even from behind, although two channel), it's not tuned the way I would do it. It sounded too "hart" (German word) to me. Dunno what the right word is in English. Maybe glarey, because it was not too bright, but caused fatique and lacked warmth.

He tuned it for perfect resolution, silver cables everywhere. There were songs that just didn't catch me on that system and one of my favorite songs I definitely prefer on my own system (tubes and horns FTW!).
