Apart from that I hate that sampling rate switching cuts off the beginning of a track (Qobuz via BubbleUpnP) and no setting helps (buffer etc). I wish there was a delay setting of maybe up to 500ms.

The delay is one of my biggest complaints. Others have figured this out like PiCorePlayer and Volumio. Vintage DACs take longer to get a lock.

I'm going to have to update both of mine now. I've been waiting. I just restart tracks when sample rate changes. Picore and Volumio don't have any delay ?

Schiit's EU distro has been a shitshow since forever.

I just order from the US it’s pretty much the same price anyway. They used to go by Sonority audio as well, can’t find anything recent on that. Probably a good thing.

Not defending it but the 4080 has major economies of scale. Otherwise there’s basically no reason why a DAC should ever cost more than than a motherboard, let alone a computer

Yes, I did this by accident. Actually, mine was delivered with the lower gain tube (that I think was also an accidental mistake). I've since switched to the correct gain, so I only ran this way for about a year.

I know its a different amp, but I use a 6SN7 instead of a 6SL7 in my A&S Mogwai all the time. Change was approved by Justin @ A&S and he indicated that the 2 tubes were essentially identical, except for the lower gain on the 6SN7.

Craig replied and doesn't recommend it as it has twice the heater current. I hesitated messaging him as he's retired as far as I know but I wanted to be absolutely sure.

The JAR mod takes out all the congestion and cleans up the space. And again, it's very dark but not mushy or muffled or rolled off in the sense of hiding something. It's full of high resolve, detailed, the beautiful timbre.

MJ2 was phased out in part because of the large form factor. Gungnir has the same form factor. I think that's what accelerated the Gungnir speculation recently..
