Would the "pure" or non-push-pull class A, 2W/32ohm of the MJ3 sound different than the push-pull class A when toggling switch to get 8W? Or is that the point?

Everyone one is entitled to their own opinion. I prefer a direct approach, not hmming and hawing, talking in circles, burying good info under huge heaps of useless bitching, and whining.

I'm not surprised by anything except the price.

This makes me want to hear x9000 because I think the SR-Omega is my favorite Stax.

Will write up this audition report later in the thread.. but omega was preferred by old-schoolers or hardcore estat folks. Prol tad more clarity. X9k is a better allrounder (to me) with highly refined highs and beautiful 3d.

Two immediate findings
1. Didn't like high gain. Heard with digital attenuation for fairer comparison to low gain.. but something went too far.
2. Piety sounded different depending on Z, I guess. High-Z sounded audibly better to me.

I find that gain reacts differently for different headphones. I like low with some (bass less loud) and high with others (a little more air?). I’m preferring Low with the modded JVC FDs but I’ll have to wait till the Pi gets more burn in time.

Zahl was already a boutique pro audio company with console gear pushing into the six digits. This is just a tiny sidestep for them, maybe even a passion project. Still outta reach for most, but we're not the target.

@GoldenOne All I want to know is if you paid 6999 GBP for one. I think it is a fair question to ask. Especially as you claim to be impartial and objective on your website. I'm not doubting that claim but it would put to rest any speculation if we heard directly from you. I don't care if you got one for free. It just needs to be part of the info provided if you claim to be an objective source of reviews.

@Rthomas I paid I think it worked out to just under £6000 with the USD/GBP exchange rate at the time. But I also ordered via the US so it was a bit cheaper than the EU/UK pricing directly with VAT included. (Though I've yet to receive the fedex import bill so will see if that holds true in a couple weeks XD)

I did not get this for free. Sold my Holo Serene and AHB2 to help pay for it.

Chicken, turkey, duck, game birds, etc - can all taste good when properly prepared. Although I have turkey most years, IMO no rule that says you can't change it up.

Duck is where its at. Today even my son decided that he didn't need Turkey for T-Day anymore and preferred duck.

Aeolus is still my favorite ZMF. All the drivers and models have their own unique characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses, but the Aeolus is pretty well rounded if you're going for something more akin to a modded HD650 or JAR HD600 on steroids sound.

Coincidentally, first time Zach had them RMAF, he told me the Aeolus was by far the quickest and easiest to tune in R&D compared to his other models.

I've never had real truffles, and I'm skeptical of anything I've had with truffle oil is actually truffles as it always tastes chemical-y to me.
