Any recommendations for erhu (Chinese 2-string instrument) music? Preferably melancholy, sad, or relaxing music.

Interesting instrument combo in that collab

Leo - it seems like even most Chinese people I've met in China (much less elsewhere) don't know much about erhu music.

Random for me yes considering I almost never want to eat after dinner time, much less midnight munchies etc.

Was this close to driving to grocery to buy oreo milkshake stuff until I realized the blender would wake everyone up at ~3AM.

@Thad E Ginathom - Yeah, there was sort of sweet spot with how things worked. Earlier versions weren't great but each generation got better to where you could just turn something on and it worked. Not just analog too. The NES and SNES were great in their simplicity too.

Now there is kind of an expectation that digital electronics should always be on.

Deeply engrained in me as a child: stuff was not left on. My dad even preferred to pull plugs out at the end of the day or when going out. And he was nowhere near OCD: this was just being careful.

So none of that warm-up-for-3-months, even if it is really for real, will ever be for me. I don't even leave the modem/router on when we both go out...

No formal impressions yet as it's too soon but so far (1hr) what I read elsewhere is true - about on par with Yggdrasil and Wavelight.

In terms of absolute performance (ignoring R2R vs DS, OS vs NOS, individual preferences, etc.) - I would say Yggdrasil < M3 < Wavelight. Talking small or tiny overall improvements here though. Synergy and preferences >> any overall increases I have heard here. Also dollar value, etc.

The diamond part came across to me as the typical "semi-smug need-to-feel-good about social causes modern European approach"** to things that seems to be shoehorned into most innovations like this. Or yeah, Occam's Razor = "let's make money". Cool either way though.

**No offense Europeans, I could rag on US approaches to things too.

... not driving 60 in a 30 neighborhood and then proceeding to drive 40 in 75 flow of traffic on the freeway, not randomly stopping in the middle of the road w/o obstacles present, making only one single turn in the intersection, turning left and not right from the left lane (or vice versa), etc... these are all things I've seen in only the last few years from Prius drivers. More in the past.

I think @ChaChaRealSmooth nailed it: The Prius appeals to people who don’t like cars or driving. These are the people who will one day buy a self-driving car. Now for me, I like driving, I just don’t like other drivers.

Can health insurance cap payment to a provider 1-2 years after the fact and have the provider bill you? Got a potentially fake medical bill?
      1. View previous comments...
      2. crenca
        crenca
Call your insurance company with dates of service in hand and ask them what happened. The provider will probably be less useful (depending upon the competency of the person you are asking), but ask them as well. Assuming it's not "fake" they are just trying to collect a legitimate bill and such actions by the insurance company are almost always legal

      3. crenca
        crenca
Remember you can always negotiate with the provider. Say the bill is $1000, explain to them that you don't have it, you lost your job due to Covid, your cat died, etc. and that if they will take $350 (and send you a reciept with "paid in full") you will give them your CC over the phone

Yeah definitely going to need some new eating habits to get the last 10 off. Main worry is the last 10 will come off w/ "a diet" but come back when "eat normally" again.

First 35 came off via minor lifestyle changes + eating a little less.

Yggdrasil A2 (still not ideal) > Stellaris (rolled to warmer tubes) > thicker copper cable (idk if this made a big difference) > Utopia.

Tried Utopia in past with Stellaris, various Woo amps, Phonitor amps, a $20k+ amp I don't remember the name of (but made other stuff sound very good), and short listens at last meet on popular SBAF amps such as EC AF, 3F, etc.

Also applied about -1dB of software EQ around 5.5k - 6.5k (any more software EQ I feel messes up other stuff).

Same issues still exist for me, mainly the treble spike and the "sharper" sort of sound I hear, but it's definitely enjoyable now. Still prefer the overall sound signature of the Clear but it's nice to go to the next level of technicalities etc with Utopia.

HE6se mods are slow b/c I'm too scared to mess something up... Considered opening up the HD6xx for mods once but stopped before I even got the cups off the band due to creaking/groaning and part felt like could break (granted I wasn't that motivated to mod). etc...

Most of my hobbies are outdoors and/or can potentially go bad in <1 sec (like riding a liter bike fast margins of error) but I don't mind mods if I know what they are, how they work, etc. Or even if we remove personal risk w/ a PC - I don't mind tweaking speeds, voltages, timings, etc. at risk of slightly to completely damaging parts that each cost more than HD6xx, etc.
