Re-recognizing myself a junk music lover rather than audiophile. Love gears adding extra flavor but screwing up well-recorded ones hahaha.

That’s already known as I labeled them junk haha. But when I hear impossible clarity, exceptional staging, and mind blowing dimensionality from such junks (with help of some gears), I deeply question the nature of (high) fidelity. I kinda hate junk detectors.

I'd rather ignore amr lol. My prejudice-ish take is TP (along with other most Ch companies) don't do anything to improve analog output stages. They closely follow the reference circuit provided by chip makers. For budget products (<$300) it can be ok, but that approach never leads to "great" digital products imho.

As far as I know, only Matrix really "tries." I mean, just look at the chassis; it's crazy over-engineered.

I find a [decent] metric for seeing a product's performance are classifieds actually. If people tend to hold onto something for a few years it says something about it.

I second The Botanist. Hendricks is a solid one. I not so secretly enjoy Kirkland gin alot more than some mainstream and even small batch stuff I have tried. Also for some fun sipping, try a bourbon barrel finished gin from someone like Few.

Rest easy in the knowledge that while purpleheart will eventually fade into a brown/black with time, ziricote will remain a beautiful patterned landscape of browns and blacks forever. Purpleheart is also 12% heavier (56 lbs/ft^3 vs 50 lbs/ft^3).

That said, I had a purpleheart eikon wayy back, and it was indeed beautiful. When purpleheart is brand new, it has a wine-purple/red iridescence that is just lovely.
