I am quite familiar with Phil's work on 70's era Genesis (I am a big fan of that era, not so much after Peter left). I just have a soft spot for Stewart's work in the Police. I used to be obsessed with them!

Collins’ most interesting drumming is probably with Brand X, if I’ve remembered the name of the band correctly.

bit depth=any, sample rate=192, upsample if source < target (adhere to base freq), stereo, quality very high, multithreading yes

these are the settings I use

@Syzygy I set the same, except 24/48, and it plays a 44.1 file at base, but still upsamples to 24 bit. hmmm...this is probably my only option.

Aeron is pricey and not everyone likes them but it is the chair I am sitting in right now at work and it is the choice of all my friends. Embody I think is also a pretty good chair if you're not too tall.

Went to Staples and bucket the gaming/racing seat is not for me. Those are only comfortable in a slight recline - not very ero for a desk. I settled on a La-z-Boy Arcadian. Call me old school, but that thing is comfy. I did love Aeron's at the recording studios I worked at. All the studios in Nashville have them.

Sit in an Embody for several hours and several positions before buying. I bought and I don't like it.
Also... the seat is sensitive to water. Now, true, three days under water in a flood is excessive, but it destroyed it. I got it fixed, but gave it to wife for occasional use. I don't care for it.

This is almost entirely due to dumb shit in the shoutbox vs. contributions/impressions/etc. This metric in terms of audio contribution is v. misleading in my case. Give Chartman friendship :)

I'm just free associating now, but if, in exchange for friend status, @dematted was forced to have "Chartman" as his snark tag, plus the obvious Southpark photoshop avatar that title would imply, perhaps this evens out the discussion around forum status/wish fulfillment.

"Subjective impressions are great, really. Without them, what's the point..." This only means I try not to listen to the gear rather listen to the music.

An audio enthusiast with a recording degree. I became an audiophile in college in studying recording to become a mastering engineer. Although I was an intern for Glenn Meadows and also was acquaintances with Ray Kennedy, the stars never quite aligned for me. However I never left pursuing high-end audio.

I grew up in a radio station as my dad was in radio. My first job was a board op at the talk station where I had to use analog reel to reels, carts, cassettes, and DAT's.

And yes, I like to tinker with gear. I am an audiophile on a budget. Working IT Instructional Designer only gets you so much income with two kids around. Have you seen how much day care costs these days? Anyways, there are I guess some gains to some gear that can be tweaked to improve the performance. This is no different than car types changing differentials or beefing up the suspension or engine. Some of us can't afford a BMW, but rather have to take a Civic and beef it up with aftermarket parts.

Tinkering also helps with repairing gear. I have restored some KEF C75 speakers, a Technics SP-10, built guitar tube amps, and even modde mics. I have also fixed, soldered, suped up, many other things from crossovers, to cap replacement, to op-amp replacement, etc. I fixed and rebuilt a non-working Dynalo as well as a Black Widow amp. I took electronics and studio maintenance in college, but I am still learning.
