I think he was angry since the Tekton thread since there wasn't universal adulation.

I think there definitely is an element of him seeking validation for his gear purchases. I get it, I just think he reacts too quickly and negatively

I'm regularly amazed at hearing clear distortion in albums that should be produced better. Bob Dylan Shadows in the Night this time.

I'm kind of impressed with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo. I bought it just for SonarWorks calibration but it's proving to be a handy gadget.

I was looking into it for room calibration with Roon.

What's a decent mic to pair with it for that?

Unfortunately in this case entirely the opposite. Auditing ancient versions of apps that are no longer material to the business and have been swallowed in replatforming of source control systems is an exercise in pointless technicality. At least the M&Ms had a good raison d'etre.

More a Kate Bush fan than a Tool one, but that sounds about right! Both have that sort of affable, perky weirdness to their sound, only Kate Bush has way more of it, haha.

When I got my Utopia I was convinced there was an LR imbalance, and a much steeper treble roll off on one channel. Off the back of the Tyll/Katz stuff I was all set to return. Took me a few days to realise my right ear wasn’t popping when I swallow, it was my damned eustachian tube acting up! Saved myself some embarrassment there.

Off the cuff...with Gennies = lovely clarity and substance, tames the sibilance and brings soul to the monitors. With Andromeda = holy effing shit awesome and NO hiss at max volume. With HD6XX = forgettable politeness, muddy bass, wtf happened? Maybe unfair right after Andros, or SonarWorks differences or just not a great combo.

Yeah the ADI-2 Pro is also on my radar, just the lack of remote is a little bit of an issue. I'm doing just fine with digital attenuation on the GO2A that's driving the monitors now, so I don't think the Soekris will be any different.
