It's a marketing attempt. I suppose they deserve credit for pushing these things forward; I do doubt they are the first ones to do it. There are 'clever' surrounds way back that have attempted to negate the 2H issue. The motor thing sounds quite vague. There is one huge thing they 'forgot' to address about BWC: efficiency.

I wonder what sort of amping they need. Under 2k doesn't mean much if you can't get them to sound good for anything less than 2 Aegirs or sth.

@westermac PM-3 has been my current daily can for 3 years. NDH 20 is less neutral uncalibrated, but outresolves the Oppo.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought it but had to remove the restrictions to read it with google translate. Macke HR824 version 3 is a "well-done monitor" but only 1/3 for sound :) I heard that one a few weeks ago: 0/10 sound in the next room being heard through the wall level bad.

I agree with the two-way editorial recommendations I've heard for their sizes. It's pretty much impossible for the hyped monitors to beat them as normalish sounding tracking, mixing, and listening speakers in their respective sizes and prices regardless of the later review scores.

They show the HR824 MK2, which doesn't look too good to me measurement wise. Mids are ridden with resonant trails and directivity doesn't seem too controlled. MR824 looks a tad better.

That tweeter! 2300hz 1st order like a boss! Those danish engineers behind the Satori line are truly awesome at what they do.

I would put L2 on a different orientation. But looks good. Nice drivers.

@m17xr2b Nope, it's fully open. The bass, however is crazy good. Need to see if the THD holds up at higher SPL's.

Crazy good is a bit much, but I agree it's a very satisfying bass. From my short audition I remember not finding any faults with it except price but prefer it over the verite.

Also the soft dome tweeter doesn’t have any AMT weirdness or off-timbre either.

How is the KH310's compared to 8050's ?
Could you live with them wihtout subs?

@Jokko The biggest improvement is in mids and treble, when listened loud. I guess I could live without my subs, but I'd prefer not to.

@Taverius I used the same ones. For anything less than the insane 10AWG screw terminals are plenty good.

@Cspirou NL2FX use screws for sane wire gauges. They sort of mention that crazies can tear the screws out and just solder the 10AWG.

Steeper slopes meant that none of the drivers struggle and lin-phase changed timing around the crossover zone. Overall the result is a cleaner and punchier bass without the 100 - 170Hz hole.

How are you doing the filters and crossovers? MiniDSP?

Used to own a 2x4HD, but my Mac mini for 300eur can do much more. It runs a Reaper DAW which routs X-over, timing and room correction via plug-ins. Also Roon runs on it.

Only the ported ones. Sealed ones do more of a humming thing. I try not to watch.

Svs are brilliant at subs. Now my sb-2000 sits at Sonarworks lab. If I hadn’t built my insane big subs, I’d prolly had 4 sb-2000ies.

I finally bit the bullet and bought Ref 4 Speaker Edition (couldn't resist the Black Friday sale); given my experience with SW headphone correction I'm excited to see what my system will sound like corrected. Just need all my coworkers to leave so I can blast some sweeps. Glad you're back at SW!

To be fair - If you were expecting wireless ANC headphones to sound as good as wired headphones, you were setting yourself up for failure from the start.

I'm not expecting them to outsing a PM3. I expect them to not suck schlanger.
