What I learned after 2h of helping clean a badly jelly-dirt-caked window-mount AC unit: sometimes people you pay to do a job don't earn it.

I have a guy who is an assistant building manager at the local university. I call him first on just about everything, and then he hires the local plumber/electrician/carpenter (if he can't do it himself) - usually one of his friends.

I pay him significantly - I could get most things done for 1/3, maybe 1/2 as much if I hired random guy based on price. BUT...my guy gets it done, right, the first time, so that is what I am really paying for.

Always fancied myself as a top but okay.

Hah! Kidding aside I knew nothing about audio when I got this so it meant nothing to me at the time, but it seems bottom-firing is generally dirtier sounding but more effective at getting "rumble".

So I think they're generally more for home theatre and club applications than proper hi-fi. Still, I suppose I could always flip it on its side and face the woofer towards me, haha.

Fiction or nonfiction? I have been sitting on my masters thesis for 2 years. I no longer care about the institution but I would like to think if I completed it 1.5 persons would read it and the .5 would find it useful ;)

It's fiction. I've been writing copies, term papers, and the like for ages now and I miss writing stuff for myself. No idea if it'll ever finish, but I want to keep hacking away at the thing.

I do have thesis coming up though so.... fuck.

Compact size would be another issue for something with enough power to drive inefficient speakers like that. Most compact tube amps are low powered and volume and bass reproduction will be a major problem unless she is nearfield (and even then, bass could be a challenge). Hybrid may be better. Like you said, maybe she should just get on here and ask herself :)

Story is predictable, deals with stuff about Chinese immigrants settling in San Francisco— the weird nuances of under-the-table dealings were familiar. Fight choreography was grand though; moves didn't have the same "impact" you'd get from something more modern, but the movements were nostalgic for the old classics. Hella fun!

Will say that my only reservation recommending it is awareness that I'm fond of cheese and tropes, and also how this film doesn't necessarily portray USMC flatteringly.

I can jokingly call it propaganda, but perhaps that's not too far off. It's got entertaining fights though, and at least takes a stance against inequality.

Could be placebo but bass seems a touch fuller, though it's not a significant difference from before. My only regret is that I'd forgotten to place the shelf liner back in before taping things shut.
