Please never let me post a review to Drop again. Idiots telling me the HD6XX series are easy to drive. I feel like I'm on head-fi again. Jan 21, 2022

Why do Schitt DACs click whenever a source input starts or stops?

My BF2 often clicks when I power on/off upstream devices (digital EQ), as well as downstream (SW51+).

This depends on how the data transmission is organized. On digital silence the system can interrupt transmission or transmit zeroes. In the latter scenario there shouldn't be any clicks unless transmission parameters change - i.e. you start playing something with a different Fs.

PS Audio PWD DAC also does this...also depends on the source. USB can maintain a continuous connection when direct to computer, but through Pi2AES it disconnects when no audio is playing (through COAX SPIDF connection).

^ Then tell her the next one you buy is a passive-aggressive preamp. She'll approve.

"Passive" is kind of funny because a preamp is the audio component you interact with the most. Amps and DACs are just there

Is there an iOS app or web service that lets you input dimensions in one unit and convert to another unit for all 3 dimensions at once?

Only one dimension at a time though. I’d love to find something that will take for example

        250 x 205 x 40 mm

        And convert it into

        9.8 x 8 x 1.5 in

In one go. Seems like something that would exist.

        250 x 205 x 40 mm = 25 x 20.5 x 4 cm.

        You're welcome.

I'm sick of imperial, wish everything was in metric.

        I'm surprised that Google doesn't recognise a * b * c as dimensions and convert accordingly. But it doesn't.

Interesting to me, since I never listened to Joy Division.

The lyric is a play on "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Neil Sedaka, most notably performed by Captain & Tennille, a huge hit in the 70's.

That's what I thought was being quoted.

Nahh! The T50rp is awesome. But earpads have a huge effect on the sound. Most commercially produced headphones experiment with the earpads extensively. I’m not sure how I can do that but I need to figure out a way. I still have a whole bunch of pads coming from AliExpress though maybe I’ll luck out.

I have every brainwavz pads they make (a lot!) and none of them are perfect but I’m working on accommidating my mod for one of them. I don’t like the angled or regular pleather/leather but hope to find a way to make them work. I have no idea how to have custom pads made but many modders have done it - zmf, mr speakers, etc so there must be a secret I’m not privy to

@E_Schaaf my posts in the he5xx thread weren’t directed at you. I’d love to hear your modded electrodynamic Fostex someday they sound good by your descriptions. But I didn’t sign up for the loaner because I can’t really use full size headphones right now and you’re better off with people who know the competition and market and might buy one. Or write a meaningful review.

It's ok, learning is collaborative! We are on the same team not loving neo planars (despite the ridiculous amount of effort I put into modding many of them). Maybe it's not fair for me to write off the general tech so quickly. I did love my Maggie 3.6R's when I had them... I'm glad the story aspect of planar design is finally coming forward, I really do value the context you've provided.

Definitely on the same team! I can tell you’ve spent a lot of time trying to fix/improve headphones and I respect that. Someday I’m sure I’ll hear one of your creations.
