Not that this is about giving up, but I favour patches. Gum gives a hit, patches just keep the nicotine level below hit but above craving. But what counts is Making The Decision. The rest is just stuff that may or may not make it less painful.

Never really knew anything about her except 'famous for pop and pretty' until now. It seems intolerable that someone who is patently able to run their lives, including being a part of a multi-million-$ business, to be subject to the situation she is in. Such a thing should, at least, be independently and regularly reviewed.

Serious mental health problems do, of course, call for serious attention, treatment, and even protection. Equally a shame that the ordinary folk on the street who /need/ it may never get it.

not me, but I feel for others spending money on products that offer no return. I doubt any of these hot DACs coming out of China are much better than the $99 helm bolt dongle, if at all

Helm Bolt Dongle- I learn something every day. K4rstar, what would be on your short list for good usb (no add on to fix) dac under $500 new or used. May be downsizing my Prism.

not sure, my main DAC is SPDIF only so I use a converter for USB. I don't really think the desktop sized stuff is going to be better than the helm bolt other than I/O really. maybe keep an eye on reviews for the new geshelli DAC.

I still need yet another Cavalli amp (Crimson), another DAC or two (I have more amps than I have DAC outputs), a full proper tube amp (I don't yet have a full tube amp) and another better headphone or two that pairs well with the new gear. And a turntable for the records I have. And another shelf in the audio rack. And...

I'm in. Unless my Theta dies. But dammit, I need a 2 channel amp for the JBL cinema surrounds I just got on a great deal. Crap.

I don't know your boss / organization, but have you spun this back on him? It may have been dumb of me (long term behind the scenes feels stuff) and caused initial ire with person I challenged, but it was a net positive in the long run the times I've challenged similar stuff. Granted challenge for right reasons, not just to "be right" or even to make the company money per se.

My boss once gave me an urgent job to do. He then chatted to me for half an hour, and, after that, asked me why I had not done the job. I asked him what I'd been doing for past half hour.

I was not particularly constrained to be polite to that boss and often wasn't. None the less, my mates and I considered him to be a true man-ager.

If you are lucky you can start a new cult now. The gospel of the DT48-sound is baffling.

@Deep Funk From what I remember, I could see the combination of their "inside the head" lack of soundstage depth together with their continuity (relative gaplessness) in soundstage width being addicting to some.

I have 6 philips based machines now. in the not so distant future I will be selling 5 of them. the goal is to keep the CD880 and one TDA1540 based machine. first I have to listen to everything, compare, take pictures.

@E_Schaaf from my small sample size, the black screen HD600 is much better than any previous silver screen iteration I've owned, modded or not.

I didn't really like the Cardas Cross cable when I tried with HD600 a few years ago, though the smurf blue did match the HD600 well. I thought the Clear Light was a better cable, but not worth spending on. Curious to hear how you like the Gotham. I had one made from Mogami 2534.
