Not a big fan of lcd5/mm500 ergonomics, mm500 is comfier tho. Still too tightly sized. Did Audeze fire all the big heads in recent yrs? Dec 7, 2022 at 2:07 PM

I don't think it's supposed to be a replacement, it's shilled as being more "studio" oriented. Fixing the upper mid dip? Or adding shrill treble like many "studio" 'phones? I hope it sounds good.

Single sided magnet design, different diaphragm, trace and magnet structure than the LCD-5. Machined aluminum body, metal headband with no holes in the leather. Uses LCD-X diaphragm, sounded better than LCD-X but it should for costing more.

Sidegrading = costly masturbation. Pick a philosophy and pursue it until it no longer interests you. E.g. High complication, high driver count speakers + high wattage class-a SS amplification + latest ESS chip DAC, or! high efficiency simple driver/crossover + low wattage SET + R2R or better vinyl rig. Don't cross the piss streams and piss-stain your life with extraneous gear-dicking-about.

@nishan99 Exactly. I'm seeing side-grading as a sort of extended home auditions or investigation that we don't have to feel to be pushed or forced. There used to be generally so many new discoveries, findings, and fun. It's pretty cool as long as we know what we risk..

But actually, seriously, now i come to think of it, yes it could make a difference. Like drinking out of china, glass, metal or plastic is different. Eating with wooden utensils is different.

Haha, right. But that's half of the story to me.. The other half is more social. I'm still debating myself in speaking anything out loudly. Strong yet unfiltered voices (and super low ROI to convince or be convinced for the issue) arouse fear, insecurity, and disjointedness. We may all know we're categorically different.. but seeing it explicitly is another imho.

Like, join as a newb or even seasoned vet, and have a continual personal interaction with someone who's been around the block and keep folks from being either ramrodded by gatekeepers or deluded by constant side-grading. like a tailored and less public general advice thread.

I can re-realize a myriad of gradations exist in any of muffling, rolls, and coperto in timpani. Well-amped Susvara just made them so easy to pick up. I'm just enamored by how melodic this instrument should sound, which can't be easily heard otherwise.

Also fully content with la90 amp. A very analytical take coming with top-notch blackness, transient, and separation. On top, super-subtly warm and rich tone completes the sound. I don't think it a good match to challenging (i.e., low-Z) speakers, but it's making Sus sing effortlessly.

(2) Even can't answer Qs regarding what he claimed he did (I did ask beyond CV-level summaries tho). All those were followed by his own introduction "I did fantastic jobs and my skill set excels blahblah". Overall feels like Ebay seller's "mint" self-evaluation.

@ufospls2 I do think it's intentionally done that way to create cleaner bass presentation. Loss in 30-50 hz (which I focus during short auditions), but more fun around upper bass.

PS. googled a bit to find measurements prol you menat. Seems a seal problem (I don't hear that much rolloff) there but largely matches to what I heard in low bass. Notes around 25 and 30hz sounded rather weak to me.

Interesting stuff dude thanks for sharing. Yeah, if you like a -2db high shelf with Susvara I can see you liking the stock treble. What I like most about the SolP is how easy it is to drive, whilst still being TOTL levels of detail and such. Not quite as good as Susvara etc.. but close.

@ufospls2 Honestly, soundwise they're legit good. I'm very glad I found something contestable to Sus (for a total package), which I realized not an easy bar for any contemporary hps regardless of price points. Maybe except for crazy estats like sr or x9k which I desire to hear some day (I'm pushing them to local pals lol).
