The Vali 2+ is more than an amp that it needs to be. I was not expecting this much upgrade from Vali 2. This could be Vali 3.

15min listening with Solaris 2020, mainly for low noise check. very quiet air, no hiss. added IEMatch to check volume pot, need more critical listening but no wonkiness.

@jexby make a post about it on the Vali 2+ thread with IEMs. I am curious for a cheap tube amp (after selling off SW51+) when I get bored with the sound from IEMatch. I presume you are using stock tube?

post coming after a bit more time. not stock tube, cheap RCA 6CG7 with copper grid. Ediswan cv-2492 and Siemens 6922 going in next week for fun.

Is the Jottenheim R the same thing as the Jottenheim A? And do either one sound like the regular Jottenheim?
    1. Azimuth
No, the Jot R was amped up version for the SR1a. Same voicing as normal Jot, just moar power I believe.

You need to do this switch with (dear) prudence. I like Siouxsie‘s version even better than the original.

Inflation calculator is saying $4k in 2016 is now $4,559.32 so makes sense with costs going up across the board for like everything.

Wood prices have been going up and their wood ring supplier can't keep up with demand so I don't hate the change to acetate for the rings.

With Meze and DCA and their new flagship prices, $4500 isn't that big of jump in price in comparison.

@nishan99 That's exact set of my concerns. Nice summary!

@netforce Oh, you're totally right. I was honestly a little surprised they didn't put 5k 6k 7k ... (HFM, Abyss, Meze, DCA, etc). I'm just uncomfortable with any prices north to 3k. lol

I think the reason why they priced it so conservatively is because it does not sound as good as the 4, would it been better to name it the 4S or something, the number 5 is just for marketing I guess. Believe me if Audeze could price it at 6-7k they would, they're not the heroes here.

@rhythmdevils Yes, seems I was lucky with my pair. And you're the right person to ask -- is there much potential from DIY upgrades? I've swapped pads for comfort, otherwise they are stock.

Cool! I thought they had a lot of potential if the FR was right. Snappy driver. I don't remember resonance being an issue, but I could send you some material to try damping the cups if you want. I have some excellent absorbing materials. Taken a lot of buying various things and trying and learning. If they. have empty cups as is which is likely, it would probably help.

lol, I think there's some somewhere in my fridge that must be at least a couple of years of old. Sugru is a wonderful solution. One buys it to fix a problem, and then wait ages for the next problem. Unless you take the hammer/everythings-a-nail approach, in which case welcome to a house full of misshapen bits of silicone! :)

They are very open about its limited shelf life: six months, iirc? Extendable by keeping it in the fridge. I don't know what happens when it goes off. I'd assume it just sets?

      That’s doubtlessly a great direction!

I’m personally less sensitive to price as that’s a matter of how many months to save money. I know or own several other products I can equivalently enjoy.. but none of them comes under 400g.
