I'm going to skip the heated blankets and just buy Class A amps for the whole family this year. Oct 4, 2022 at 11:20 AM

I've left my keys in the fridge a couple times, but never my headphones. Yet.

When our son was some two years old, he used to put his stuffed animals into cupboards, drawers etc., and then not find them anymore. Once, we found one of them in the freezer.

Six years with the HD650. I cycle through all of my collection regularly, but I end up back with the HD650 as the "98% good enough" option.

I used my Ireland-made HD 6xx's for years and got a lot of joy from them too.. I have tried going back to them a few times over recent weeks, and can't last even 5 minutes. I think that's a reflection of how similar but better the LTS V1 / EllevenAcoustica is tho..

Those LTS headphones look like a lovely project, but I'm seriously allergic to DIY just from my own clumsiness. I'm not seeing much sub-$2K that is worth chasing (HD800S, used, maybe?).

Gave away my older AT-LP120 turntable to my nephew. One less large thing in my house; and it ends up somewhere it will be appreciated.

I gifted an old thorens td-126 to some teenage daughters of a friend, and am very pleased to know it still regularly spins their Beetles LPs on a regular basis. There's gotta be some karmic sense that that old TT is happy in retirement. gruff old TT: "of course young ladies! I'll spin the white album again tonight!"

Hang in there, taking care of these things is tough. I've still to bring home my father's records (they're in the UK, I'm in the US). I did bring back his Thorens record player. It's a comfort having it.

I don't think I have ever made a playlist. Even though it is nearly a decade since the deck went into storage, I still consume music as albums. Sometimes occasional individual songs.

Mind you, I never made a mix tape either. Even in rock, I prefer the symphonic (suite) form: something complete in total.

The storm moved here really fast with minimal damage. We were luckier than many other places this time around. But 40 degrees coming out of the air in just a few hours makes for a very unstable atmosphere.

Could one of you provide a picture of what properly packed vinyls should look like? I'm guessing it's much more than just putting vinyl in a box with bubble wrap around it.

#1 you want no movement of the lps. Wrap taut or if using a reg. lp box, use cardboard stiffeners on bottom and top of 1-4 lps. If you shake and can feel movement it is not right. Also I use external corner bumpers made of folded carboard.

For larger lots, wrap or brace in a tight box with bubble, foam or something to prevent movement. Then put this box in another box and pack to immobilize via paper, peanuts of whatever you have to do the job. sorry I have no pics.
