*Low pass filter. And that’s a well-intended video with some misleading explanations. Higher frequency processing prevents aliasing! Those extra harmonics can lead to extra imd though from non-band limited non-linear processing. That itself is not aliasing where moire images reflect off dc and the upper nyquist limit.

I don't claim expertise... but was puzzled by the discussion of producing or hearing a square wave at all. Square waves are surely a limiting case, like a frictionless surface or a benevolent government.

Is ASR visible simply because Amir spent the $$$ on SEO, and others did not? It's the Google ranking, not the content.

SEO is easily manipulated. Google keeps changing the rules, but there are ways around the system.

Also I would not be surprised one bit that Amir games the Google algo. He makes his presence known on multiple sites to argue his case and isn't just limited to ASR. I've seen him on Head-fi, Computer Audiophile, (Mass)Drop, etc. It's not just about being 'right' but he wants attention.

Even on youtube now. I was looking for a general video on grounding and his vid came up at the top.

Tube too noisy in MJ2? Then it's time to retire it to Vali2. They're complementary amps.

It's a fun amp rather than a great amp. Currawong described it as sounding a bit drunk (intoxicated). He was less positive on the Vali 2+ because it has been cleaned up to sound more like the solid state ones.

My Paypal account is in suspense. They want to use an OTP to confirm my login and the registered card has expired. They wouldn't get far with that, as the number they have for me is a British landline phone. Which I haven't had for nearly 20 years. And I know they'll tell me I can't use that account from the country I now live in, so not taking it further.

Thanks - I appreciate the pointer. I downloaded free music from a few sites, but the 'free' licensing is often unclear. I would prefer to be able to create files with variations on upsampling and share them directly, but pointing others to downloads for free music and letting them replicate is a fallback.

Want something pirate? You can try to download FLAC files from Chinese music apps, there's an instruction on YouTube about how to do it, and I found NetEase's got some upsampled files.

@Cellist88, I was telling myself off for the generalisation, which I readily accept. Of course, there are two circles: of musicians and audiophiles, which I have squished together, when they are overlapping. Of course there are those that belong in both

What I won't do is assume that because someone is an musician they are a good reference for hifi listening. They need to be an audiophile (or maybe a sound pro) as well. And they may very well not be. No offence intended to musicians. Or audiophiles.

@Woland For my home setup I gave up and just installed Ropiee. I still plan to use Volumio at an office if that ever happens again. In that case I will avoid UPnP and use Volumio to play Qobuz. The UI for that is wonky but still better than UPnP regularly fucking up.

@ogodei does the "-EB" suffix means military grade? Or just longer life time? I saw some 6n23p-EB tubes, but I don't whether they sound better.

-EB (or -EV or -I) on Russian tubes indicates extended service life, low noise & microphonics. Usually there are structural differences from the base tube (e.g., 'military grade' build) but sometimes they just stamp the tubes that measured the best.
