I ordered a zen one sig earlier this week to see how I like it as well. Seemed like a pairing worth trying after reading the zen dac thread.

@lagadu very synergistic pairing. The pairing can be accused of being a little too laid-back or limp dick but somehow they correct each other's sins a lot.

You can really dial in and finely control temps. On my large egg, I can get 30 hours at 110C or two hours at 370C. The ceramic really retains heat well and burns a lot less fuel than many other methods.

I use a Thermoworks Signals to manage my cooking and cook everything to temp with an internal thermometer and can monitor the grill temp with it, too. It'll even wake me up at 1am if the temps start to deviate.

Easiest thing to start out smoking to get a feel for the egg is a pork shoulder. Maybe burgers to start out with the grilling side (costco frozen patties for lazy mode), but graduate to a steak ASAP. The high temps are incredible for steaks (~350C).

I just picked one up for office listening and I totally agree. It is quite enjoyable. It's not the the last word on definition or separation, but it renders a solid, entertaining, convincing picture. I had been using a Topping DX4 for office/portable up until this point and the Fulla easily smokes it in bass, depth and midrange tone.

When my wife got COVID and I had to isolate in the spare bedroom, I had to dust off my old Fulla 2 (the first non-dongle version) for the first time in years for a makeshift setup and was surprised at how enjoyable the LCD-X was out of them. I was not at all feeling like I was missing anything, and got through so much new music. It was a life saver.

@DigMe compared to Yggdrasil GS and Starlett, obviously it's much worse; stage is flat, isn't as resolving, I could go on. But as a whole package, it's not bad and is cohesive.

Timeless 7hz + Fiio UTWS5 Bluetooth is my running / gym companion.

HE6seV2 out of the Xbox Controller 3.5mm jack is end game for me.

Haha, I liked Empire Ears 14-driver Zeus for PS4. Super sensitive and tons of spatial information and detail. :)

God, I'd love to hear either JAR600 on your setup...

I'm strongly biased toward the B mod bc it sounds 800ish (or what I wished the 800 sounded like, when I had them years ago) while retaining the tone, timbre and realness of the 6X0 series.

Actually, I don't think it would take /much/ figuring. But it would take a deeper knowledge of hardware interaction, operating system priorities, interrupts... all that stuff and more. I don't want to take up all that stuff now. All I can say is that I'm sure it isn't actually weird, but I can't explain why.

@Thad E Ginathom I actually agree - I have a long history with Windows audio “tweaking” and USB audio in general is very weird. Controversial topic though, and even with what I know I also can’t explain why, either. But yeah, interrupts, CPU threads and handles/overhead, resource allocation/affinity, something like that.

Yep, I tweaked some in early days of Windows audio, and later (to present) in Linux audio.

This mentality has been useful in keeping me out of the Tube Nervosaverse. I only have a couple tube items now and backup tubes to last years. No need for me to mess with them at any scale.

Once you get the sound nailed down you're just coasting with excellent music. A++ would buy again.

Yeah, I too wish the cups were bigger. I also wish it clamped a little less, but granted for me the ergonomic complaints are minor and ultimately I find the headphones reasonably comfortable

@ChaChaRealSmooth just get the good Linlais and be done with it for the 2a3s. Last I checked they're less than $700 a pair.

..... yeah that is NOT money I'm willing to spend on tubes. That money gets me enough gallons of gasoline for multiple track days. Or spoil my puppy rotten.

Ahh, gotcha, that's fair to set your tube spending below that value, just wanted to be sure you didn't mean the multi-thousand dollar unobtanium stuff.

That sounds nice. I still miss my old LCD2.2 sometimes. They were so damn musical. Does the Bee have the same epic bass response?

11 ohms impedance. Not sure about power, but Piety kind of barely cuts it and isn't nearly as good for it as my EC Ultralinear. Recommendation by Nectar is to use an amp that outputs 1.3 W

@ilikebananafudge_ There's similarities. The Audeze beats out the Nectar in terms of pitch differentiation but they both have the same overall character. I'll post more detailed thoughts in the impressions thread later
