If i might add, a habit I need to make more of a habit: jump on loaners even if you have no need for that particular piece of gear in your chain. hear gear and provide feedback, not audition gear is the spirit of the loaner program.

Seller was acting kind of dickish. Either way, i'd have to hear them in my room to tell if they're a 4x improvement over my current AN's (which use the same woofer and tweeter, just not as tightly matched and in a different cabinet with cheapo x-over) to excuse the price. At some point i suppose I could just build some AN-E cabs or try to track down some Snells as donors and build a balls out AN-E x-over.

Instead, I'm probably blowing cash on APR Stage 3 turbo, IE intercooler, and upgraded clutch. 400WHP (with no fueling upgrades!) in a 3100lb car is going to be a riot. A low 11s 60-130 would be nuts.

roast 'em in 3rd is a solid life goal, imho.

All the price hikes got me off the gear treadmill really quick. I'm probably buying a Mani-2, but otherwise I'm pretty comfortable with my mid-fi life. Putting that money into buying music and movies instead.

@crazychile I wouldn't say I'm sane, I just like to try things from the nut job fringe in the cheapest way possible. This was not one of those things, so I really can't recommend it. Too many confounding variables to suggest anything. I'm more just shocked that a fucking fuse that I expected to do almost nothing (bias!) did as much as it did. So far It ain't "good" it's just a lot. Heavy commissions of something.

ALL OF THEM. but seriously, Human, Emergence, and One Hundred Billion Sparks are essentially cannon. BUT!!! definitely check out his 3D Reworks EP, it's not exactly binaural since it's not recorded using a binaural mic head, it's binaural output from a piece of software he's been playing with for many years now. From what I understand, the 3D EP was proof of concept.

I love that he's seriously invested in the technical aspect of music making, but more importantly, he's using music to explore concepts where science lacks meaning. He's not "hand waving about" and using fancy scientific terms like word salad, he knows where scientific concepts are not well understood, and tries to use music to provide a toe-hold.

I am all for it. I just know there are way better noval tubes than just 12AX7’s.

The impression I'm getting is that its close to the performance of the A2 with the nice engaging timbre of those old PCM chips. If that's the case, count me in.

LIM is supremely great but wasn't for me. Fabulously happy with A2. It does what I want music to do, tho at times I think about putting the A1 cards back in for a little because they are devilishly incisive and I enjoyed that for video games and movies because it was so visceral.

Choosing Yggdrasil flavors is hard. I might end up with all 3 cards some day lol. A1 has incisiveness and nice air, A2 is rich and grand, LIM is clear and consistent.

Thinking of changing my Lim upgrade order to A2. Waiting for 3 months now and likely gonna be a lot longer still. I like chocolate cake.

I have been a Big Thief fan since their debut so I am a bit biased, but I cannot stop listening to the new album. For sure occasionally a bit listless and raw, but just draws me in.

i really like how disjointed it seems. I mean the course of musical styles they touch is just amazing. it reminds me of why i fell in love with Broken Social Scene.
